First, I would like to mention that I have small blaster turret proficiency II.
Small blasters need a buff. It can be with either range/accuracy, damage, or heat generation, but there needs to be SOMETHING.
Right now, in order to kill someone with a blaster, the LAV you're in (HAVs don't need to rely on them, and dropships trying to get in range without getting shot down is just a joke) has to drive very close to someone, usually close enough for a good shotgunner to run up and take out the driver and gunner, before it can fire with the hopes of hitting someone.
Once you get in that range, the gunner has to fire in bursts, both to avoid overheating, and to hit with the terrible accuracy. Don't plan on being able to kill more than 3 people, because they'll either kill the gunner as they're waiting for the blaster to cool down, or it'll just overheat.
When you're actually hitting someone, the damage isn't even worth it. Using an advanced blaster, you'll probably be doing slightly more damage per second than a GEK, which will also be more likely to hit, and have far more range.
None of this even takes an AVer into perspective. If you there's one of those, you might as well cook a grenade for 10 seconds.
In order to make small blasters useful, I would mainly suggest giving them more range and accuracy; Better yet, a "turret sharpshooter" skill. |

Small blasters are fine, they melt infantry in less than a second. Been on the receiving end about a 100 times tonight |

I think range is the best thing to buff, and maybe heat buildup - at least slightly. |

If you can AIM with a Blaster, they're mostly fine.
But they are hoplelessly out-ranged by ARs, so that could use some work. |

I was using a prototype blaster with the best small hybrid turret damage mod on the market, and a gunner from my corp who actually DID learn to aim. If infantry are oblivious to us, she kills them quickly. However, if anyone sees us first, it takes a third person to flush them out of cover, since the blaster isn't consistent enough to hit them in short windows of time, even firing in bursts (keep in mind this is a prototype stabilized blaster, which is the most accurate one there is)
Perhaps I need to fill my passenger seat with someone to flush these people out. |

Those saying blasters are fine, please see this thread: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=45164&find=unread
There is my thread in which I have broken down exactly WHY the blaster is broken and how to fix it. Also, It's in the requests section and not the general discussions. You know, where they look for feedback on broken game mechanics. If you wish to prevent a blaster buff, please come discuss there whether or not blasters are effective. |

Why are blasters almost polar opposite of how they are in EVE? Instead of being the most devastating form of standard arms they're just pseudo-autocannons |

My team worked with blaster fit LAVs last night. We discovered the best way to kill people with it was to either run them over or jump out and shoot them in the face with whatever we had on hand. Nerfed missiles were still far better for me. |

ditch blasters and support my idea for a HMG version for vehicles (large and small turrets). |

From what I figured right now, you're best off fitting an active scanner with the blaster, and carrying someone with a short-range weapon in the passenger seat to get the REAL kills while the blaster fire chases reds into cover. |

They are devastating once they hit, and just like in EvE you have to get up close and personal with them.. its not a railgun.. even large blaster turrets in Eve as devestating as they are have to be within 20km of your target or your hit and miss |

Small blasters are mounted ARs with a few stats swapped around. |
