So unless you have a black ops variant of a vehicle, I think that all vehicles should automatically be tagged on your radar once it is in range. There have been many times where I would hear a tank or dropship near by but would not know which direction it's coming from. This makes it very difficult to make quick decisions - should I engage the vehicle or should I run for cover?
I feel like non-blackops tanks shouldn't be able to sneak around corners, non-blackops LAV's shouldn't be able to easily run over some dude, and it shouldn't have to look up in the sky for 9 years to locate a dropship that is moving almost directly above me. |

If anyone on your team can see a vehicle, it's marked for you.
It's dangerous to go alone.
Bring friends. Or just stick with teammates and keep an eye out in any direction they aren't looking. |

Check your map. While on spawn screen take 5 secs to see the state of the battlefield. Ask squad mate to check map, if it's too near. |

Listen for directional cues. You can tell which direction it's coming from and that helpls. |

I had problems with this too, though I don't think they should always be automatically be visible. There should be some kind of equipment for tagging enemy vehicles to make them appear on the map even when no teammates is looking; it could last from 4-8 minutes depending on the tier, and it could maybe improve swarm launcher lock on speed on the vehicle. |

OMYGOSH, laser designator/target painting so that your team mates have lower or zero lock on delay with swarm launcher is brilliant!
And as you suggested, as a side effect have it make the vehicle visible on map for some duration after going out of sight to provide some other usefullness, since a merc using a lasing device wouldn't be very helpful otherwise.

I understand how the tagging system works, but I dislike the passiveness of it. It makes it hard to tell if it's even working.
Anyway, while having a auto-permanent tag for vehicles may be overkill, I still feel that whenever they are within audio range their icon should show up on your radar. It just makes sense to me that way.
Tanks aren't the biggest problem but I've been killed several times by a tank that was hiding behind a bush. LAV's are slightly more problematic, but only because their engine sounds are messed up. Sometimes I don't hear those engines until AFTER it ran me over.
Dropships are the most annoying out of them all because they move fairly quickly in 3 dimensions. When I spawn in on Ambush, there may or may not be a dropship very close to me. If I do hear a dropship, i'm usually stuck looking up at the sky in ALL directions so I can decide which way to run for cover. This takes time and while i'm staring at the sky the dropship usually has a good visual on me and is moving in for the kill.
So generally speaking, I want audio to play a bigger role as an in-game mechanic on enemy detection. This idea could also be applied to infantry roles as well. Guns are eventually going to have things like attachments and sub-slots (or whatever they decide to call it) so this would fit in nicely because people like playing with silencers and whatnot. |
