I would be surprise if we see a new build before the end of the year. Although, it has been rather quiet of late.

CCP's first attempt at a FPS, couple that with the interactivity with EVE then factor in that, they are programming on the PS3 (which is not the easiest) and you have your answer.

they are 2 seperate games on 2 seperate platforms. we have sony to QA our builds before they can be released which adds a huge delay of weeks onto it.

on top of that CCP has 2 with limited resources to manage.... do you know when planet side first got its beta out compared to ccp? or at what stage they released it to beta? You can't compare.

Captain-Awesome wrote:fail, precursor was end of aug, I appologise, post edited Lol, no worries ... even the builds before E3 (whatever they were called I forget) were around the 6 week mark ... seems to be a decent time for them to work on stuff and US to test stuff (before the cap - to the limits) but now I guess that's why we won't be seeing a character wipe, so we can reach the higher tier stuff on mass and see how it unfolds.

I think there's enough answers to michael ... we are breaking new ground, CCP is restricted by Sony's approval and planetside 2 is a Sony game ... not sure they're going to rush things through for CCP to bring out a better free version of something they want to sell (am I right in thinking planetside isn't free2play ?)

I just want CCP to release the game cause i dont want to loose my guy anymore.

There are a LOT of elements that we're yet to see - in beta or otherwise.

I take it you didn't hear the news about CCP delaying the open beta until sometime in 2013?

Not only that, CCP use to develop DUST using their own game engine, but complications arose that forced CCP to switch over to unreal and start over.

Planetside 2 was patched very quickly and effectively. Major changes were made to the game since the beta opened this summer. It started as an unplayable pile of crap, and now runs really well (for most people with decent computers) and a lot of new content and other changes were added. Dust hasn't made anywhere close to the kind of progress Planetside 2 has. Maybe there's a ton of stuff behind the scenes CCP is doing that they aren't releasing in their builds. Maybe being on the PS3 just means that patches are invariably slow to do. I don't know. Either way there's been a major difference between the speed of development for both games.

Not to say Planetside 2 is perfect, and Dust has more promise in the long-term, just that there's been a really obvious difference between the two in terms of how frequent and how meaningful updates are.

there may not be a wipe considering much of the changes on the next update are focused on fixing bugs and balancing issues.

I have a feeling it'll be december 3rd. Why? Late on sunday, the final "tester's tournament unlock" concept art/wallpaper will be released. Since it's the final one, you can bet it'll be showing something BIG.
That'll give us a week to speculate on it before BAM! It's released.

Really hoping for a new game mode, new corp features, upgraded player counts, more maps, etc. in next build.
And of course, new guns and equipment. Not just variations, but stuff like the scrambler rifle and the minmatarr pistol.

Maybe even racial variants of the suits, and the pilot, and crusader suit?

MAYBE commander mode with MCC control!?

Thats asking too much to hope for though.

I would love to see most of this in the next build. My only thing is if they release pilot suits I want something to really pilot or the ability to fly a drop ship like a drop ship so some kind of communication there. I would love to see crusader and commander role though. With these though I would like to see a reset so you can go into it fresh. Yes scrambler rifle and the gauss rifle would be awesome. Then another side arm would be sweet to.

You can point out the difference in time from beta to game. You just have to take into account, planet side had some history in shooter and a good history at that. CCP is building a game that is very new in ways to us gamers and very new in ways to them as developers. Not to say you are wrong for pointing this out just it really shines a bad light on dust and a good light on planet side. Not to say that PS2 does not deserve any good comments it gets just point out all the facts when you compare things in this manner.
