At some point I'd like to see the option to review corp battles. Even if it's limited to the strategic map watching blue/red icons move around. This would allow us to review and analyze how effective our own and enemy tactics were.
If it's like a bpo then copies could be made and sold IE: Dust Tournament matches. I know I'd pay a fair price to get my hands on tactical data of an opponents match.
It adds a level of intrigue and gives map nerds something to do. |

Id say this is a bad idea. You shouldnt be able to see and learn the enemy tactics. Thats like having an nfl teams playbook, as u know what they will do before it happens, and give you an unfair advantage, especially if u are a weaker team |

well if it is a playbook maybe ud have more than 1 strat and they still wont know which one u decide to drop on them next time u play.
I like this idea, forces teams to have a wide range of strats and not just 1. plus it gets weaker/scrub teams better and better the competition the better the game imho...unless ppl dont like competition then prob playing the wrong game
Didnt CCP already say something along these lines at fanfest that we'd have heatmaps or something? |

I don't think quality tactics and command require eternal secrecy. All sorts of metrics are tracked and publicly available in EVE, There are entire websites (like battle clinic, or EVE Who) devoted to giving out detailed information on fittings, Corps, Alliances, and specific players all open to anyone with internet access, for that matter some, like Rooks and Kings record and post their own battles with commentary about their tactics and motives. They are far from the largest group in EVE and they still have the capability to hold their own.
Surprise (the virtue of secrecy) is of temporary utility, if everyone has the same access the OP won't disadvantage anyone.

The review can be an asset held by each participating team. If you don't want anyone to see it then keep a tight lid on it but it's New Eden, espionage is huge piece of this game. To limit it further it could be a purchasable/disposable mod for the Dust corp like a recon satellite or something.
Once Dust is integrated with Eve the sports comparison wont work anymore. This view is too narrow for what it will eventually encompass. If we're going to compare it to sports then what I'm describing is nothing more then a fan with a video camera. |

you dont need 1 strat, but say if have 10,15, or even 20; it wont matter as once u use on more or less you cant use it again as everyone (or just opp) will know of it. Being able to review really is only affective for the losers to see where they went wrong. Yes the winners can look, but if they execute what they wanted, this idea becomes and aid to the losers and weakening to the winners |

Even the "winning team" should review their battles. Looking for potential flaws that could be exploited and plugging any gaps in their plans before it happens. If you don't look for the hole in your own defence your opponent will.
This idea will expand on the meta game in one of my favorite ways, politics and espionage. It'll also engage the market and making them a desirable commodity will make moving them, via Eve, delightfully dangerous. |

id say only was to get the recording would be to pay for them; kinda like smuggling out data or something. As information can be more powerful then a weapon. |

And I don't see any dating going on in DUST. However, I will say that we shouldn't get to see the entire enemy force in review.
We should only get to see enemies based on data collected by our side's TACNET during the battle - as in it only records enemies for review when painted on radar, for as long as they are on radar. During the battle-review mode, the red dots only pop up when and where the enemy was painted, allowing you only the intelligence you gathered.
The takeaway from that addition? Intelligence becomes an integral part of strategy in DUST 514 If you're fighting a new MCC commander, you should be sending out a lot more troops with Active Scanners, so you can get a more complete picture of how your adversary operates for later encounters. If you're an MCC commander yourself, vary your tactics to keep an intelligence-gathering enemy in the dark.
EDIT: If you have a corp infil, you're stealing the playbook anyway! Welcome to New Eden, the galaxy where anything goes |

If the data from both sides of the fight could be combined for a complete image that would be really awesome. |

an easy way to do this would be that data is only pulled up from the tacnet, i.e. a red only appears on the battlefield when its been scanned |

lolno if u have 20 strats they wont know which one u are goin to use during the match doesnt matter if they know all 20 it still comes down to their ability to counter it aka skill and ability to adjust on the fly to which of the 20 u decide to use
this is only a problem for teams that dont have a wide range of tactics or cant switch up as easily
ur acting like the enemy wont know ur strat from playin u once anyway u dont need a recording for that lol |

I don't like this largely because of sniper intel. To know a team's sniper locations without figuring them out yourself means you have eyes on their hiding spots before they position themselves. There's no guess work, you know they're likely in one of however many locations and it's a process of panning around to see which one, instead of the whole battlefield being a possibility.
I wouldn't mind if it only recorded through the eyes of the players, and all you could do was cycle through each of their views, and you only had access to your team's viewpoints. But an overhead map that popped up enemy locations to where you could identify things like snipers isn't cool in my opinion. |

I don't see a problem with recording what's on your team's tacnet for later playback. That would be standard practice for any engagement. Recording the radio channels would add context to the battle playback. |

As a side note, there are 3rd party apps which will do this and if it's not a feature in game ultimately all this will mean is that the use of such record and review tactics will be limited to those Corps who possess members tech savvy enough to employ game external means of accomplishing this same effect.
People can object to the concept on a theoretical basis but even on a PS3 there's no way to actually prevent everyone from harvesting this data in some form. (With enough effort the form could be made more limited and harder to share in game than what the OP is describing, but don't assume that it won't be present in some form).
EDIT: Also this
