I would like the ability to put forth not just weapon ideas but legit schematics as well. Few features to go with it
- Go through patent process so fools can't slap an automatic-forge gun on themselves
- Would well support the future player controlled market
- You don't have to buy your own inventions! (pay for materials, own the BPO)
- Be really picky in accepting designs
- Application fee
Don't priortize this as first though, we can all live without it. Just a suggestion. Bend it to your will CCP. |

We will be ableto make our own weapons SOONGäó. As for this, sounds cool, but could become OP, and a auto forge gun has to have drawbacks like crazy. |

As far as I've heard about creating your own items it will work a bit weird. According to a CCP interview you will have recipes to create items since salvage will not give you full weapons but parts to make existing ones, but I'm not sure how excactly it will work. I do like your idea though man, could really create some interesting moments. |

in eve, salvage parts are used to build ship rigs, wich gives you some extra for your ship like more powergrid, more capacitor, more damage and a lot more. It shoud be normal to have oportunities to put rigs to your dropsuit or vehicle, but not sure shall it be possible for guns. |

I thought that was going to be something for the Eve players to do. We already have infantry items on the market list. |

So we can only mash up pieces?
What if two pieces are of a different weapon type? Like a laser beam with a shotgun action? Could that stuff be possible? |

There's invention in EVE, but it's actually how you get Tech II blueprints. It will probably be the same way in DUST.
My real concern, though, is how industry might be represented in the future. At first, we will probably continue to be forced to buy from an arbitrary market during the first stages of release, even if an industry component is included. After that, it can be anything as far as we know.
I personally want to mine and process ore to make weapons and vehicles, especially if you can attack miners and steal their ore like the spaceships do. However, I'd be willing to settle for a salvage system if we can get it from PvE. As much as I love working for a corp's good, I need to be able to support myself every once in awhile. |

Like your take as well, think I will donate a like
I feel that the things you invent should be able to be sold on the market by you, but having a real-stock market might be a little more tricky. It would take a lot of time and ISK to get an invention legitimized, but to have to mine out the resources and manufacture it would seem although hyper real, a little overly-complex, especially for those in small corps or just all by them lonesome in an NPC corp. Maybe there could be some balanced approach?

So out of game invention, or in game? I.e., are we submitting weapons to Dev's to review, or are we just in game making our own weapons. If it's the latter, then I think I would prefer the coming soon Weapon Customization. |

For instance, there is the Breach and Assault Scrambler Pistols. But they don't work for me, so I'll make a new variant. Basically, it'd operate on a see-saw program, so increasing damage decreases this stuff (RoF, Clip Size) and increases this stuff (CPU/PG, SP requirement)
So I could make a One-shot-clip Breach pistol that can do lots of damage, but has high standards.
I wrote this a while ago, so the patent thing might be a bit outdated.
I think it'd have to be an app that runs online, less stuff to stress servers with. |
