So I just had a quick look around youtube and found at least a dozen video's showing beta footage by random people who're talking about this and that. You should really keep more of an eye on this, below are a few videos I found on my search.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Gu9iPGRmZY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcfs3RjNJHo&feature=fvwrel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9DX1M24dOU&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y47YgVc41OA&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7dzaoPCk3I&feature=related
One of those is part of a series....it's 16 parts long right now. How the heck have you let that last so long? Pull it together guys. You put this NDA up for a reason, so enforce the darn thing. I get that there are tons of them probably being uploaded on a daily basis, but still. Some get thousands of views and are up for months.
On another NDA note, how are people feeling about people who break the NDA? |

I agree with you completely. On the question at the end, i feel it depends on how and why they are breaking it. I think if like the jack offs posting vids thats complete BS because its showing the game off in an unfinished state and at that people don't care what you say because they see different in the video. but what about people explaining some details to ther clanmates? they are promoting the game or in some cases detering while keeping the details within a tight circle of people that they have probably known for years. In the latter i think its ok as long as they stress that any info on DUST that's discussed is kept in the clan.
just my opinion anyway. |

If they just made the video a private one and then gave that link to the clan mates who needed it then yeah that's alright in my mind as they're doing it to help other players in the beta, but we have to agree to the NDA every time we turn the game on, so how people just make these videos showing off the game in it's unfinished state and not understand that they're doing something they aren't meant to do amazes me.
And yeah I'm being a tattle tale, but if these people are being too stupid to notice the NDA then they kind of have it coming. They'd get busted for it sooner or later, I just prefer sooner. |

Actually, per CCP, posting it on any server (private or public) is a violation as it risks exposure to others (just because it is private doesn't mean employees at youtube can't access - by definition they have to have access). |

True, but at least that's minimal, compared to just throwing them out there for the world to see. |

Honestly, I don't personally care if someone wants to break NDA in a public setting.
What I do care about is when people say "they talked about how the game will have X in, but it doesn't" while they're playing a BETA for an UNFINISHED game. Anyone who is being an idiot complaining about things in the game as if it's the final product already is pretty much the problem imo.
The ones who are complaining about things that aren't true - particularly when their own video "evidence" proves them wrong, are my favourite NDA breakers. Especially when they're (as I saw in one E3 build video that lasted less than 3 hours after I first watched it) complaining about how the game doesn't have any infantry-based anti-vehicle weapons while using a Swarm Launcher to take out a Sica, then see a Dropship fly over only to get taken out by a Forge Gunner on the roof. |

2nd to last vid does not break NDA, it was originally from a vid that CCP released, or a game news site released with CCP's permission.
It so depressing how these people have no clue how to get better stuff, all of them are only using militia assault rifle, or other default weapons. Sure they aren't that smart since they're breaking the NDA, but I'm worried the majority of people who try Dust won't know how to upgrade their gear despite the tutorials. |

I haven't broke the nda but I don't believe in them. If bf3 had such a strict nda ,Most players wouldn't of known about ea lie with player caps . Also I think ccp would fix a lot faster gun play mechanics and other bugs. If they were faced with 30 YouTube video with these bugs on the Bennie hill soundtrack . Right now they have no reason to do anything because any problem can't be exposed. Plus how mature is the audience if they are tattling like 4 year olds for a pat on the head from ccp |

There will always be people breaking the NDA regardless of what you say to them because they don't fear the ban hammer as they have figured out how to circumvent the system. There is no reasoning with them. The only thing I worry about is how the information is presented to the ignorant public which can either help or ruin an unfinished product's reputation before it's released. |

Yes, all those people who've been successfully sued for having broken video game NDAs are a testament to the gravity of the offense. |

The first linked video was posted to the internet on October 12. If CCP really cared it'd would have been removed weeks ago, Or maybe they've spent too much of their budget on Dust 514 and have nothing left over for the poor starving Lawyers. |

the NDA is mostly just so news sites don't write up huge-ass articles complaining about how buggy the beta is. videos submitted by testers is just free advertising. |

It isn't that the NDA wasn't broken and an agreement is an agreement. It isn't like CCP doesnt look at Youtube. It's not even that they cannot handle leaks in a manner that they see fit.

Firstly, he wasn't saying anything to you. He was bringing this to CCP's attention. He also asked about how the playerbase feels about other players who break the NDA, so calling him a rat doesn't make sense in the slightest. In a way he's trying to help support DUST 514.
Secondly, I have mixed feelings about the NDA. If i weren't in the beta I would love to get my hands on any footage of DUST 514 that i could.
On the other hand I don't think the game should be showcased without the disclaimer that right now we don't have everything we are going to have at full release. The game footage right now may raise questions as "How many game modes?" or "Why are there so many bugs?" and most people are not satisfied with the answer "It's in Beta".
Most seem think that Beta means that the game is close to being released.

I do get uppity when I see that the information presented to the public is done in such a bad way that is drives people away and I have seen it happen already too many times. But then again, I wouldn't want those same ignorant people playing Dust 514 if their only source of information happens to be a biased player posting trash on YouTube. It's like seeing someone relying on Wikipedia as a cited source for a college research paper. |

That's where the problem lies.
Many players today have been conditioned to believe that a beta (even a closed beta) is an exact representation of the final product. This false interpretation of the term 'beta' is what has lead many people to be driven away from Dust 514 when they haven't even researched it enough.
I blame the multimillion dollar game companies for perpetuating this false idea of what a beta truly is because all they care about is profits by pumping up the hype before release simply by making everyone think Beta = Demo which is BS. |

No, he was posting it in a forum for use by everyone in the beta, inviting discussion on the topic by said people with the same forum access. If he was bringing it specifically to CCP's attention, he should be doing so using one of their contact email addresses, not putting it into a forum which is intended for the discussion of ideas.
Quote:He also asked about how the playerbase feels about other players who break the NDA, so calling him a rat doesn't make sense in the slightest. In a way he's trying to help support DUST 514. But this part is something I'll agree with. If he hadn't posted the videos, and only opened up the NDA discussion, then there wouldn't be accusations of being a rat, because that wouldn't be the topic of dicussion. |

i report a lot of NDA breakers, if you find something like this, report them in an email to [email protected]
The reason i do this is not because i back the NDA, to be honest i do think its high time that the NDA was removed, the reason i report them is because i am planning to make a series of high detail tutorial videos, but i dont because i dont want to be kicked from the game.
Its unfair if assholes like these get away with breaching a legally binding contract on those like myself who are waiting patiently for the NDA to be lifted. |

Agreed. It's just not fair that I have to wait as well to do the same thing for my diaries regarding Ninja Knifing while seeing jerks violating the NDA just to get attention. But as I said there is no reasoning with these people and anyone who judges an incomplete game by just looking at trashy YouTubes video from a biased player without doing proper research on it doesn't really deserve to play Dust 514 in my opinion. We got enough scrubs (I'm sorry, I mean blueberries) as it is.
To me, those jerks will just fade into obscurity. Those who patiently wait for the NDA to be lifted with the game fully released and polished with almost everything we were waiting for implemented will surely get the best attention if the videos are unbiased, clear, and highly informative while encouraging the reader to do extensive research on it by providing the links to official sources. |
