Since we're all mercenaries, and therefor corporate assets, I'd like to see the ability for corporations to rent said assets to other corporations on a per-use/per-mission basis.
In the Dust Tournament there were several instances where mercs were recruited by corporations competing in the tournament from corporations who weren't. This would allow the merc to remain a part of their parent corporation but function as a full member of the corp they are loaned out to for the duration.
The rented merc should appear, in corp battles, as a member of the corp that hired them but this would NOT appear on their Employment History once that's implemented. It's not an employment change since they're still employed by their parent corp.
It's less complicated then it sounds. If I call a plumber from Plumbers Inc and they send someone over but that plumber doesn't work for BetaMax they still work for Plumbers Inc.
This would require director approval from both corporations and some kind of automated message would be sent to the merc upon the transfer...I mean we're just corporate assets so being told that I'm getting transfered by a director is just a courtesy. |

This is the only part i do not agree with, if someone "hires" you then you are in theory being "employed" to play. It should appear on your Employment History as a loan or something along thoose lines, not a corp move or anything like that.
Great idea though, more for the Meta gaming side of DUST. My only addition would be a fee to the players parent corp should be included also. |

Surely the payment would all go to the players parent corp, and they would determine the Mercs remuneration? This would have the benefit of establishing a potential income stream for those Corps with a number of impressive players, and would also allow the formation of Freelance Corps. |

I'm not sure I'm thrilled about this idea. Mainly b/c it would encourage 1 man corps to make the most on your contracts. I do agree however with the idea of hiring individuals or entire corps and maybe giving certain payment parameters to each merc that joined maybe on WP K/D or just straight up wins or losses maybe even a modifier based on average fit cost. I know paying based on stats isn't perfect especially to logi but it gives some flexibility. |

If/when taxing is implemented, merc work could be taxed at a higher or lower rate, depending on the corporation in question. |

Yea this would deff work for the corps cut. OFC this just makes it even more important to expand on the current corp tax system. Especially in relation to eve-dust. |

we are mercs we can already play in other corps battles. This should stay at individual level not a corporation. |

Great idea. Especially if one corp has a specialty or something, like say a corp is known for having the best AV guys or something. You could rent them from that corp for however matches, etc. Another avenue for ISK. +1 |

Thanks for the feedback.
I'm thinking the decision should stay at corp level so that the parent corp can keep track of it's mercs and knows where its own assets are. If left to the individual mercs it could be possible for a corp to loose track of who's where at any time leaving them selves vulnerable to attack. Also if left to individuals it would be seriously prone to espionage and sabotage. People from Eve will have a sharper picture of what I'm talking about.
The money for this would be paid to the parent corp in the same way a movie rental is paid to the store. The parent corp would then either pay the merc a portion or not.

Making alliances, and being able to join battles involving allied corps, would probably be easier than having individual members hired out. I find it unlikely there'd be a big market for people you don't know and don't trust to fight on your team, personally, but letting friendly corps help each other out would be good. |

This also strikes me as a a good way for smaller companies to buy in expertise. So for an example a small relatively new 5 man Corp is approached by a Corp looking to hire some HAVs, the money is good but they don't have the necessary skills to pilot the level of HAVs required. However they happen to know a couple of guys who do have the vehicle skills required. They then reach an agreement whereby the HAV guys join their corp for the duration of the contract, and everyone gets paid.
This would be perfect for any small/starter corp who may not have the full suite of skills yet. It allows you to effectively outsource parts of a contract in order to be able to compete with the bigger more established corps. Got no dropship pilots? Hire one in. need an E-war guy? FInd them on the markets. Potentially it could even lead to a small corp acting as a middleman and bringing together a diverse group of people as contractors in order to put several hundred boots on the ground, as well as orbital support from EVE players.
As for people not wanting to play with people that they don't know or trust, this is where the metagame and social aspects comes in. Certain people will have reputations for doing a good job, or you may have met them already and think that they would fulfill the role you have in mind. |
