We all know the intended direction and potential for DUST 514 as stated by CCP. I've been playing the beta for months now but have been interested in DUST since first hearing about it quite a while back. Anyway, a new recruit to my corp asked me "So what's the overall direction or agenda for your corp?". I felt like I was being asked "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?". Really, I have been planning on finding some decent EVE corps to work for once the game is released and fight for them. I have no other real agenda of my own currently. My answer seemed to disappoint my new recruit but right now, we don't have much to go on. Afterall, it's hard to tell if DUST will work out fully as CCP wants so I hadn't put much thought into detailed planning; just establishing contacts to form an adequate gamplan later. I know some DUST corps already have EVE corps lined up to work for, but does any corp really have a gameplan beyond that at this time? |

Good to know you put more thought into your character name than your responses, Ludwig. Now if only there was a block list for responses on the forum. Seriously, an actual response from a DUST corp CEO would be appreciated. |

My gameplan is less solid than yours.
I think "make it up as I go along" is about my limit.
Found a few interesting people in various places, been invited to a corp, helped out friends with another corp, had issues getting back into the corp I was planning to run with, then sorted them out and came back. And where from here? I'll see when I get there. I'm only a director though, not a CEO.
Although my alt is CEO for my gaming clan's corp, which I intend to run as a "training corp" for players in the clan who are interested in learning the ropes in a slightly safer environment with someone who knows what's going on. We have a couple of EVE guys who confirmed they'll be joining us at some point, but haven't been given a solid timeframe on when that will be happening. And the plan there is more "see what happens" than anything. If people decide to stick around and take things seriously in the corp, that'll be great. If not, we'll train them up and let them move on. |

I am damn good with exploits in games though. But you and plenty like you would know all about that too.

Thanks for the responses so far. I just wonder what my new recruit was looking for as an answer to his question. Guess I'll ask him when I see him online next.
As for WARRIORS, WARRIORS were one of the first somewhat big DUST groups out there as they had a consistent group even before the corp and squad options were implemented. I hadn't seen many WARRIORS corp members recently though and wondered what happened. I think alot of people are getting burnt out on the limited maps especially since the same map is used 95% of the time in Skirmish. That compiled with a few big FPS titles releasing recently has really affected the DUST player base. |

I think the basics of "planning ahead" in Dust amount to:
1. Will we be active in nullsec, lowsec, or high sec? 2. Will be be active in Faction Warfare, and if so, for which faction? 3. Will we latch on to an existing EVE Alliance, or be Independant?
beyond that, I'm not really sure how much planning can be done at this point. |

We started on this beta 4 builds ago asshat, murdering scrubs like you a plenty.
Most Warriors were in the top 50 on the kill boards for 3 builds, and you can't do that with a repair kit dumba$$.
90% have gone now, they sre sick of the BS on this beta now, come the end of Nov we will all be gone, probably may check in every so often to see if things change.
Unlikely though, so enjoy your circle jerk in game and on here. lol. |

I'm my corporations CEO. And I'm doing quite well. I have made a few enquiries into EVE and made a few contacts. At present there's not much to do. But come release, my general goal is to own the entire space system, not just a slice of it. I'd also like to have custom gear to dish out to my crews, that are unique to us. That and many other things.... This game has potential, but if its squandered, or unbalanced to much, it will unfortunately, like the name says, will just gather dust...

I think the only way you can go is to just wing it.
You don't know what CCP has in store. It could be better then we had ever expected, changing the gaming industry forever, or it could just be a flop.
It could take years to be complete, or just a matter of months.
We just don't know.

A person who joins a corp in dust is asking the question of what's the plan because YOU have offered yourself up as their leader and they expect you as the leader to have a plan. This is a perfectly acceptable and should be even an expected question that you as a Corp CEO should be able to easily answer with great detail since you have asked these players to put their faith in you as a leader. A leader without a plan is simply a follower with a title. I am a corp CEO in dust (Creative Kill) and eve which gives me somewhat a clearer path. my dust corp will of course work for my eve corp ( you would need to be a corp member for more details than that). The faction warfare link to dust from what we have been told so far will allow for the eve pilots to make more isk from their efforts when we use a dust corp to control planets in an area. So my plan for the Dust corp is much easier for me to plan since I already am CEO of an existing multi year eve corp that will benefit directly from the dust link. Probably what you should do to help you formulate your overall plan is to become more familiar with eve and faction warfare. Then perhaps make some contacts with eve corps in the eve forums or the dust forums when they are controlled by a CEO that is the same person in both games. That will help you have a clear answer when your corp members ask the question of your plan as I definitely am able to give my members a clear answer right down to how it will benefit them in the form of isk and aurum in payment for being a corp member and effectively a shareholder in the Dust corp.
Most of all though have fun and your corp members will too.
Hope I have helped and just ignore those that didn't take your question seriously since they definitely aren't leaders one even told you all his followers bailed on him already so he is the last person you want leadership advice from anyway. |
