#1 I play on a 37" HDTV. I know, some people play on much larger TVs, but it was a balance between budget and size. For some reason, my PC and my Xbox 360 run everything great and full screen. Some PS3 games, including Dust, are not among those. The game displays at 19" by 19" (or something?) and it drives me nuts only using half my screen, especially considering how jaggy and unpolished the graphics look (Ten years old?). I am hoping they do some texture updates before launch. I could definitely live with lower quality in the overall scheme of things, but supporting higher resolutions is A MUST! Free or not, the second most gamers realize it is in forced narrow-screen mode, they will uninstall.
#2 Controls. They are terrible. I am sorry, but isn't this almost 2013? Why can't I remap controls however I want? My first match, I died about 4 times before I even fired one shot. I kept switching weapons randomly after that, or whatever the hell R2 actuall does. I kept pressing L3 to zoom. I am hitting R2 to fire, not R1. Why? Well, for one, every shooter in the world uses the TRIGGER-SHAPED button to fire. All of them. Gears of War, Borderlands, Halo. I understand that allowing me to remap controls however I want is a major deal, I do. However, if you are not going to do that, then you NEED to conform to standard shooter controls that have been established since Halo 1 came out 12 years ago.
Otherwise, the game is... I have no idea how the rest is. I quit testing after one match. I know beta testers are supposed to be resilient and dedicated, but I can't bring myself to that level with these two issues lurking around. |

#1 sounds like a setting issue on your PS3, it's not supposed to be displaying like that.
#2 L1/R1 zoom/fire is pretty standard control scheme for PS3 games. I'm not sure what the other presets are, maybe there's something more to your liking in there. Fully customizable controls are coming in the future from what I've heard. It's probably not as easy as you might think, as there have been wholly different controls for things like vehicles, where pitch, yaw and roll controls for dropships were added in when previously they didn't exist. So, they're probably waiting til they get the controls finalized before they worry about letting you remap everything. |

Halo didn't set any standard shooter controls. If you want to get technical, the standard shooter controls are WASD :D. As far as the rest of your issues, it sounds like you are a MS fanboi that just doesn't like the fact that PS3 controls are pretty standard with their L1/R1 model instead of the clunky MS model. |

On PS3, Borderlands and BL2 default to using R1 to fire, NOT R2. The Resistance series (Fall of Man, R2, R3) all use R1 as well. Killzone's default is R1. On PS3, the default fire button for Brink is R1. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine? PS3 default is R1. Alpha Protocol - another RPG/shooter hybrid? PS3 default is R1 to fire. Warhawk and Starhawk? R1 to fire.
I also don't remember the "trigger shaped button" being the fire button in Doom. I think it was "Ctrl" actually.
Quake was left mouse button. I think that's been a standard shooter fire button for longer than R2.
EDIT: A lot of recent games have issues on PS3 if you don't have your TV and PS3 settings correctly optimised. Check that you've DISABLED the SD options on your PS3, and force it to use HD resolutions. Some TVs, for some reason, force the PS3 to default to a lower resolution where it's available. Nobody seems to know why. But if you disable the lower resolution options, it works normally. |

@ Shava Krawn; Actually, the game runs at a 720p
720p has a resolution of 1280+ù720
Now, on my 32" Peace of shiiizzzznit VIZIO(Walmart special) I have to change the settings in the VIDIO on SCREEN SCALE to size 62. This shrinks the screen to full screen that fits my little TV. Now, on my 60" Philips I have to change it back to 100% to get the full screen experience.
Hope this helps. |

2/3 of the games you listed are on 360. I take it you've never played a game on a PS3? Every shooter/action game uses L1 for aiming and R1 for firing. Play Borderlands on PS3 and it will play that way. The "triggers" on PS3 aren't for shooters. More for racing games. Conform to the standards? Like I stated, it is the standard for games on PS3. And, if I recall, always has been for this system. And, why didn't you check the controls before you jumped into a match? It's the first thing I always do for every game. Regardless of platform.
In regards to your T.V. issue, it is clearly a bug. Have read about some people having this issue. In the options there is an, well, option to adjust how much of the screen the game takes up. Check that. If it is always 100% then you might need to delete and reinstall. Before you say that is a hassle, which it is, this game is in closed beta. Expect issues like that. It has nothing to do with the resolution of your T.V.. |

others have pretty much answered everything nicely.
try forcing your ps3 to only output in 720p, you are using HDMI correct?
i believe there is a screen scale slider in game as others have said, check that out
and yes, it sounds like your new to the ps3, so you're a newb and its okay, welcome to the darkside
