Well, everyone, my ps3 died the other day. Well, not really died, it still turns on, it just does this.*
Now, I tried a few things.
1.) I opened the ps3 and thoroughly cleaned it.
2.) And I used this trick*.
I'm all out of options from my perspective. Well, except re-flowing, which is a more temporary fix, and I cannot find any good tutorials for that.
Any assistance or help/suggestions/telling me to buy a new one/telling me that I''m a noob is appreciated.
Well, except for the last one.

The system may have become corrupted and you may need to rebuild the database, you will loose everything on the system but it won't cost you a dime.
did you try the system clean code thingy?
-unplug the system -hold down the power button -plug system back in -watch the thing sound like a turbo charger and dust fly everywhere |

is it just uncharted that causes this problem? if so try uninstalling any update data for it in the game data file, try starting the game without updates. |

I did use the fan trick, however.

I just used the video as an example.

I know a trick to get into the setup menu but I think thats only for the slim model, might be worth a try.
1, With the system off press and hold power button and keep it held, it will start up beep once and shut down again.
2, Repeat step 1 but this time it should start up beep once then beep twice, when it beeps twice release the power button this will open a setup menu where you can scan for corrupt files amongst other things. ( I would'nt mess with the other options unless you know what they do )
Failing that unplug it throw it at the wall then jump up and down on it, It won't help but it might make you feel better. |

The hairdryer trick works for the YLOD, i managed to use that trick to get out my daughter's Finding Nemo dvd and transfer every bit of data off of my full 80GB phat ps3 and into my new 250GB slim. I had thought about just doing a reflow or reball but in the end, I would much rather have a new product. Sorry for your loss , keep scouring the interwebs and hopefully you'll stumble upon something that works. P.s. how did you go about it with the hairdryer? Pps. There are companies that will perform the reflow/reball for you, i think if you scroll through the comments on that you tube video, they mention a couple, good luck. |
