I decided to give the repair tool a try, and to my great surprise after running around the game fixing Armor Suits, Vehicles and Depot Buildings I got a whopping 0 XPS. Is this a mistake or is this how the game works?
No points for repairing? I thing it is a great support team, but if no points are gained no one will use it.
Also I hope that just like any other team spirit games, people (blue dots) will start using Medic kits to revive team-mates. So far, no one carries one. I have one in all my load-outs. |

Yes please fix this issue. Originally repairing provided some points but now there is nothing. I think maybe there are points for repairing vehicles if you repair it enough but it is a lot for very little reward. The repair tool may as well be removed from this build until points are received for using it.

in case you are seriously asking-- WP for repairing were temporarily removed to counter folks who were exploiting the system.
There are many other threads on this topic that explain it in more depth, you can search them out if u r still curious.
There are also some interesting and lengthy discussions of why and why-not folks will wait for a revive, and when and when-not to attempt to revive teammates if u want to read up [sry I'm too lazy to link them, but they should be easy to track down]

CCP dosen't want people sitting there and doing nothing but crashing their LAV's and exploting the repair tool system in the RedZone, its also know as Redzone booting and can make gameplay stupid. requires two people and two lav's.... one crashing constantly into another one. with the person's repairing lav getting pushed into a building with the rammers. |

I honestly do not care if it is exploited. It is much harder to exploit now. The matchmaking is more consistent and the match types do not allow for people to sit around and do things like that without being killed in the process. But if the decision remains the same to make the tool worthless to the individual doing the repairing then just remove it from the game.
There are currently numerous other ways to exploit the game for skill points so why not make the tool an actual part of the game at the cost of letting a few morons cheat. |

There are several problems with the current system, thankfully the 0 WP award is (as stated above) a temporary solution to farmers in dust.

What motivates ME is knowing that because of my selflessness my Squad will survive longer and kill more of my enemies. Not to mention they're pretty grateful about it. I know Cross carries a Repair Tool and if he's in an enemy squad he's the first guy i shoot at (no offense bud :D) cuz even if we damage his squad he can heal them again and then they'll kill me.
The repair tool is a fantastic weapon in the hands of a skilled Logibro.
Keep the faith. |

You know, every time I see a post like this I feel an uncontrollable urge to hit the "like" button.
By the way, if you run a Tool run with Heavies, you'll enjoy the results (Free knows what I'm talking about, which is why he primaries me if we're on opposing teams ).

I will carry mine if I get extra WP or not, it works and I play for my corp mates and I to win not for WP, SP or ISK. There have been times I never even fire my weapon because I am too busy setting orders, reviving, repairing or using my active scanner. No points for scanning or repairing except for glory. |

Thanks for this. I was in a game a when I first started on the 3 objective map, spiky one or whatever you call it, sniping. I looked over between the canyon near my teams redzone and saw a few dudes dropping LAV after LAV and just ramming them back and forth into stuff. I had no idea what they were doing; just thought the they were a tards. Thanks for confirming it! |

What should motivate people to use it is the fact it keeps their team alive. It sucks that there isn't any reward at the moment, but keeping your guys alive and saving them a fitting is enough in my eyes. |

I know it benefits the team that is the whole point of the tool. But to keep those who use it behind in skill points because that is what they like to do is unfair. Wouldn't you want a medic with good skills so he is not going to be gunned down so easily. They can even do their job better if they were awarded points for doing it.
I know there are a select few who think they don't need skill points but all of those who don't use it because of that are the majority of players. So to answer the question of how to get more people to use it. Make it provide more than zero skill points for the individual using it. Wouldn't it be great to see random players start to heal you rather than the rare corp mate who decides to be selfless.
For those of you who benefit from this behavior; wouldn't you think it was great if the person who was helping you was actually being rewarded for it? |

If any 'class' earns War Points, and thus Skill Points (not to mention ISK) at a rate not in keeping with the other 'classes' that can be fielded that battlefield role will be neglected. First as fewer Mercs choose it, and second as even those diehards who do fall further and further behind the progression and funds of other options.
A lack of equal Skill and ISK gains within the game is, by definition, imbalanced.

I sure hope a WP fix comes out soon. I love my logi guy but this temporary deal has him mostly on the shelf. It is still fun to roll in him though, and the bunny hop "Thanks" you get from some random is sure appreciated, but it sure cuts into progression. After SP cap has been reached in totally non-logi related kit, then I get selfless and just chase people around with reps. There must be some ISK gain from it because I've done matches without ever equipping (or hardly) the weapon, 0/6 or the like, and still made over 200K ISK.
le sigh.. |
