I have been using snipers on and off for a while now and have been getting really frustrated at the fact that the sniper scopes have the same scoped cross-hair dot. I am sure a lot of people who use snipers would much prefer proper cross-hair on the scope that stand out against most of the colours that get in the way most of the time, preferably black :P
Also I was wondering if it would be possible to add a range thing on the scope itself, im aware that when you aim at someone it gives you that info, but for the really large maps that are supposed to be part of the full release, in my opinion a range finder on the scope would work much better |

Actually that could be pretty awesome, the thermals can be used to spot people sneaking around with cloaking modules :P |

A variety of scopes would be nice. Some with adjustable zoom, some fixed.
The range finder sounds like a nice item, displayed separably from the range to enemy in the corner.
Ideas for scope types
near ir: close to normal light but black and white wikipedia has some good pictures, this is what ir flashlights and tv remotes use. uv: gives a very high contrast image, wikipedia has good pictures again. Would see better through fog clouds. Thermal: far infer red seeing the heat given off by objects millimeter wave radar: to bulky in real life, in future could be small enough for scope, black and white ignoring lighting and dust/fog/smoke lidar: like the radar, but if near ir frequency could be seen by near ir scope
Any of these could be used to detect cloak in varying ways, or not. Just needs a fluff reason to say either way.
From reading how the cloak functions in eve, I would expect the light/radio moving through it would change frequency somewhat. So the light sources passing through the field would leave a "shadow" of light in different wave length, seen in ir and uv. A Doppler mw radar may see a red/blue shift near the cloaked object. The cloak may or may not work at all on thermal, or tracks could be visible.
A optic camo may work less effectively in other wavelengths and do nothing in mw radar/lidar/thermal.

+1 And to play devils advocate, anything that isn't a passive device (IR, thermal...) but sends out beams or waves (laser sights, radar...) i.e. Active, should be able to be picked up by a properly equiped and skilled and funded opponent. This could maybe lead to some interesting electronic warfare. Electronic counter measures/electronic counter - counter measures...

+1 Though they will probably want to get the bigger kinks in the game worked out first. |
