Okay, I've been playing for a few days now.
The matchmaking system is pretty much broken.
The few times I manage to find a game, it goes like this.
1) Join a game with 30 seconds left on the clock. Fun.
2) Join a game with eighty tickets left, on both sides, with eight minutes left on the clock. Battlefield is deserted.
3) Join a game with no players but myself in it, proceed to do SWEET F ALL for five minutes, whereupon I'm swamped when four guys join the enemy team and I remain alone.
3.5) eight more team members join in the last three minutes.
4) Join a game with no players, on the LOSING SIDE. Proceed to spend the rest of the match doing sweet f all and then lose the match.
I suggest a series of map rules put in place to combat this:
1) If there are no enemy combatants for thirty seconds, the team with no players forfeits the match.
2) Do not start matches with less than four people in them.
3) if there are no players on the field, the match is forfeited.
This would remove the majority of the 'stagnating' matches, and increase the chances of a quick match finding a populated game.
Maybe the problem would fix itself with a higher population playerbase, but right now, it just... doesn't work.

I think that part of this problem is the way matchmaking is set up based on player skill. I introduced my friend to the game and he faced against a bunch of noobs around his level rather than the high level people that I'm constantly put into matches against.
I think that there is a "tier" or players who are in between the noobs and the high ranking players that is so unpopulated, matches seem to be only a few people at a time.
That happened to me right around the 1.5 million sp mark, and for about a week I rarely got into matches with lots of people. Once I hit 2 mill I haven't had that problem since. |

Honestly, i sometimes like those matches where nobody is there. It gives me an opprotunity to explore the map. maybe find some good sniping spots for my corp members. Find some nooks and crannies and hidden (kinda, looking at you skim junction) passage ways.
Also i'm not sure if you know but there IS a "leave battle" option for those that get put into games like that. IF your not outmaned and out guns though you can stick around till the end of the game and still get a little ISK for your trouble. Free isk is good isk imo.
But maybe i'm an optomist. :)
