What I'm really interested in is CCP's plans to port from PS3 to PS4.
Can we expect Unreal Engine 4 to be compatible with UE3 so players from both consoles can still play together? Or will we simply see Dust using the same engine on a more powerful machine? Either way........we may never come out of Beta! lol |

As I keep telling each person who brings up the dust 514 - ps4 subject............dust is not going to be 'ported', it has been built with ps4 in mind.
They designed dust to under perform on ps3 so it excels on ps4, and it won't be ported, it will be a straight transfer (buy ps4, download dust client, input details, pick up from where you left off on ps3). Its a simple operation that will take the same amount of time it took to download dust on ps3. |

While you may keep telling everyone this point of view, the fact remains that if we are to expect only the same level of physics and graphical performance that the Unreal Engine 3 provides, then the longevity of the game goes out the window. Unreal Engine 4 levels of performance will be expected by the next generation of consoles, and UE3 does not logically fit as a 10-15 year plan as the engine is dated as it is. The only option that could keep a large crowd interested is to see graphical and physical advancements that make people feel like the game is still relevant that generation.
I know we like old school games as well, but since Eve had to move with the times, so will Dust.

CCP will most likely support the PS3 engine while having a whole new PS4 engine for Dust. They did it with Eve (supporting two different graphics engines), I'm sure they will do it with Dust.
--Eventually, PS3 will lose PSN support and all will be forced onto the new PS4 engine, is my guess. |
