Please for all that is holy have your comms set [Push to talk]. There is absolutely no need to be forced to listen to mouth breathers, bitching wives, crying kids, dogs, cats, radios, televisions....get the picture?!
Just saying.

You could always just mute the players you don't want to listen to.
I'm just sayin'. |

Every players ability to communicate on the battlefield is essential. Muting them takes them out of the equation.

But they have a rather unintuitive implementation of push to talk on the Dualshock 3 controller. To do so, you completely lose all ability to move unless you're a claw user. And remember, an overwhelming majority of the players here will be using the DS3.

I know it's an xbox controller, it's just the first pic I saw with the claw. |

That pic looks like an xbox controller to me. On the DS3 all you have to press is the left d pad. |

I can't say much for the babies crying in the background or folks eating (yuck), but it is funny hearing some guys GF/wifey yelling at him to get his fat butt off the couch. Still though, Push to Talk is a wonderful and under-used tool. |

I usually keep it on push to talk as there are some words that come out of my mouth while playing that should never be heard by other people. I only turn push to talk off if I'm in a squad of corp mates and there are not other noises around me. |

I said it was an xbox controller, it's the same concept >.>
Exactly, if it's the left d-pad, that still negates your moving ability by taking your thumb off of the joystick to press another button for as long as you need to relay your message. It very heavily handicaps your ability to play. |

Randoms dont even use mics
Even if they do its either on squad chat or team chat and the majority are on squad chat and so are all the 4man groups ther is no coordination at all in matches with anyone
So really it doesnt matter and just mute em anyways |

Death On Contact No. PTT only works by holding it down, and is mapped to the left arrow, which means you have to stand still the entire time you're talking. Great way to get killed. Just put up with it. |

I don't use bluetooth, but I've heard it has a mute button or a way to mute. My headset is wired with an inline mute button, works fine. It takes nothing from the game to click it if I'm going to cough, sneeze, or beat my children during a match.
A little bit of common courtesy to your teammates isn't too much to ask, and if you are to lazy or inconsiderate to block out background chatter/noise as best as you can.. you find people don't want to play with you. It would help on CCP or PS side to pipe game sounds through the headset though, as the game echo is unavoidable from the TV. Maybe theres a technical way to do this that I don't know about? |

Indeed. PTT might be a great feature for PC games but on console im not sold. Theres no way im taking my thumb off the analog stick every time I want to say something. |

Taking a thumb off of the stick becomes a natural motion with very little practice. No more practice than it would to use the same hand to take a drink, puff a joint, or eat a chip that everyone else has to hear. If you do none of these, then let it be. If you do, take a second and mute the mic so we don't have to hear you eat. If your mother is on your chops to get a job, spare us from the ass-chewing.. This is not a hard concept to figure out. |
