Manpads: Man Portable Air Defense System, sometimes misused for man portable anti-tank as well. Manpavs: suggestion of term for infantry light av weapons, man portable anti vehicle systems
1)The Amarr version could be a Khanid designed emp warhead version of caldari swarm, they share tech.
2)The Minmatar could be RPG-7 like. Single missile fired unguided, but affected by wind. Real RPG-7 turns into the wind like a weather vein, so wind adjustment is in opposite direction of normal projectile based weapons. The range could be the same as swarm, but being unguided could be used against stationary or easily predicted targets from greater range. Use against infantry could be prevented by putting 10m(real rpg-7) to 50m(minimum of Israeli spike) minimum range on it. This would make it better at some and worse at others.
3)Gallente version could use some of there drone tech. Missile is launched vertically and user see from missiles point of view to steer manually to target.
4) instead of a racial varient, 2 could be available with explosive emp and graviton(more shield less armour damage and blast pulls in rather then pushes out).
5) alternative Minmatar missile could be guided by target designator. Instead of steering at locked on target it steers at current aim point.
6) faster lower damage varient of swarms(and any other manpads), could be based on javelin variants in eve(-10% damage, -7.5% ship speed, +50 missile speed). I suggest -25% movement speed and damage with +37.5% missile speed, and adjust from there to a good balance.
7) A dumb fire swarm with a napalm type warhead for damage over time and area denial warhead. Take the standard swarm and reduce it's direct damage and adjust it's stats in the ratio of breach vs assault mass driver. 128.5 direct damage, splash is dot fire effect, each missile has 2m radius, 61% faster rate of fire, 6 rounds in mag, 9 carried. dot effect could be area on fire for 30 seconds and do 8hp/sec while in it. This would be enough to get people out of the fire, but it would do less damage then a burst of ar to cross, even for a heavy. Useful to fire in a room to make enemy come out, or go deeper into building, or make a sniper abandon a perch. |
