Not sure how this could be addressed or fixed, but I am currently in a match against some people who used a dropship for the sole purpose of getting onto the roof of the tower building on the edge of the three objective map between C and A. They are currently sitting up there with heavy armour and forge guns, and a drop uplink just behind them. I am not complaining about the camping part, just the fact that they can infinitely sit up there and destroy vehicles and people without anyone able to kill them, and then if someone manages to they will just re-spawn. I just find it ridiculous that it is possible to get to buildings like that where they can ***** in points and kills with no threat to them. Wouldn't be so bad if it was a position where other people can get without the use of a dropship, but the in-accesability of their position makes this particular little trick extremely frustrating. |

That wouldn't be an issue if it weren't for the imposed flight ceiling making it nigh impossible to get another Dropship up there to shoot them off. If all else fails, switch to team chat and call them out to all the Redline camping snipers. They'll come running to the free kills like rats to meat. |

Would have done that but for the lack of snipers, and I was trying to snipe them, shield speced heavy suits makes sniping them a real pain in the ass :P |

It's not frowned upon behavior last I asked about it, so your best bet is to snipe them off if you're able to. They've gotta poke out to do damage, so shoot em in the face when they do. Snipers out-range forge guns, so move back far enough and they won't even be able to fight back at you. |

Sorry mate, those towers are near impossible to scale with a Dropship. They've put in work to be able to do it. If we didn't have such a low ceiling you'd be able to fly up there yourself and sort it yourself, but nope. |

In e3 build when people were tower camping and draw distance was short enough they couldn't be sniped, I used the mass driver to kill the infantry and dropships parked there. The swarms would hit the building most of the time, but mass driver could arc over onto roof.
The ceiling should be higher for dropships.
Letting us enter more of the towers to get to top from inside would be nice too. |

You've flown this build? If you can get up on those towers, teach me oh great pilot. I've tried it and the ceiling bounces me down. |

Point 1: They got a dropship up there. OBVIOUSLY, if that happened, someone on your team can do it to. There may be a trick to it - every build has tricks to the Dropship piloting that experts learn.
Point 2: Dropships don't come in BPOs. Kill it, and they're out a lot of money. If they're in range to kill a vehicle, you can get in range to kill theirs. Especially if you have someone who can fly up there to meet them.
Point 3: Your team LET them have free flight all the way up there, and if it's hard to reach that position, it's probably also a process that makes them an easy target on the way up. Remember that it happens, make sure your Heavies and AV guys watch for repeats of the tactic in future. |

Thats exactly it, using afterburners you can get past the hight ceiling if you turn them on and go straight up, you ascend too fast for the game to register that you have hit the maximum hight |

I requires a very specially fitted armor dropship to fit the afterburner module, so it isn't likely you will find another in the same match.
I believe the ceiling was imposed at least partially to prevent tower camping, but someone as figured out a way to use that to make tower camping perfectly safe. If you are the only one who can get up there, you have it made. |

i love this idea!
in fact, every building in Dust should have a door we can kick in, then climb stairs to the roof. these are supposed to be buildings. not solid blocks of stone that look like a building:|

I have to agre, it wouldnt have bothered me at all if it was possible to climb there myself, and it does make a ton of sense. This would make some of the tactics that people use change a lot and would certainly make things a bit more interesting |

PS and OB will much such a position a death trap after launch. Currently they're a bit less so but still a nice target for a PS which would glass the squad, their link, and possibly kill the ship as well.
Of course none of the above is to say the flight ceiling issues shouldn't be addressed. Just throwing up some ideas for possible counters.
Cheers, Cross |
