I know this game is supposed to be a game where getting your credit card out won't necessarily guarantee wins.
But I'm curious -
If you've bought AUR, just how much in real money have you spent in total? And does the AUR make a difference? Has AUR made you a mega super killing machine?
The reason I ask is cos I'm yet to open my wallet and undecided whether I need to. |

Some of the best items in the game are AUR. Go forth and slay things. |

Aurum gets reset with a character wipe so now is the time to try that stuff out.

AUR just lets you skill into higher tier items faster. I can use the Necromancer injector and bring you up to 80% (AUR item), or I can use my skill level KIN-012 and bring you up at 60% (apologies if figures are off).
I don't get to play as much as I would like, and certainly don't have the free time to grind when the delclining SP kicks in. So I paid my way into some gear higher than my current SP totals. AUR Items will have higher CPU/PG reqs than their Isk equivalent however, so it's a balancing act. It helps that I got the OSN gift cards for basically free though. |

That depends on what you mean by "equivalents".
Also, 256 likes. Hopefully I can keep this here and make MAG jokes all day. |

Bought about -ú10 worth of AUR, got myself the 'Valor' scout suit BPO (was away the weekend CCP ran the offer ) a bunch of militia BPOs and a SP booster to make the most of this double SP week.
So while not making me a killing machine, buying a little bit of AUR was a pretty useful for me.
(although if you go down the AUR weapon route, the 'killswitch' is pretty deadly - does exactly what it says on the tin ) |

I have expendable income and enjoy this game so I have spent 40 US dollars to purchase two merc packs. I like having more gear options that AUR provides me. Nothing I use is game breaking besides the fact that I can bankroll ISK the first month in game using AUR fits. |

AUR gear doesn't turn you into a killing machine like some salvaged weapons do. But having AUR can be really helpful in a number of ways. |

AUR makes a big difference.
However, if like me, you don't plan on buying AUR outside of merc packs; I suggest not spending it except for in EXTREMELY dire situations, and for little useful things like voice transmitters and active boosters (when you plan on going into no-life mode for a day or 2). Also remember there may be more things like the valor scout type I (a decent dropsuit BPO) that will cost quite a large chunk of AUR. |
