Let me get this straight- Gallente vehicles favor armor over shields- armor slows you down, but has a resistance to laser weapons such as forge guns and LRs, which have a long range.
If your vehicle depends on armor, you want to be as far away from grenades and swarm launchers (time to react) as possible.
Then why do gallente small turrets (blasters and railguns) have so short range? Even railguns have about as much range as a large blaster- still close enough to make you easy prey for the explosives that would rip your vehicle apart.
Also, if you have short range weapons, wouldn't you want to be as fast as possible to get in and out of range in time, instead of having armor slow you down?
Seems counterproductive to me. |

This is based on Eve mechanics and racial preferences built into that game, and carried over to this game. As for the armor - use damage resistance mods when possible in place of plates - they are easier to fit on LAV's. If you are in a tank, you are already relatively slow and so the extra weight doesn't slow you nearly as much as you think. |

I skilled into caldari LAVs anyway because it costs ridiculously more for the skillbook for gallente LAV piloting. |
