Apparently betas can last 4 years. Otherwise Dust 514 would be finished by now. You can thank the Jita Riots 2010 for the delays. Apparently us Eve Online Capsuleers were the reason behind the delay. It was for the best of everyone that the riots had to happen.

The only thing i can see is that the developers can say "wait wait its going to get better!" which i would hope is the case even after launch. So i say to you, 2012 is speculation there has been no official thread by CCP stating that the release happens in 2012.

CCP stated during Fanfest 2012: Dust 514 Keynote and during the E3 Sony Press Conference that the game is due to come out in 2012. The only thing that was unofficial is the EXACT release date. Now you understand that this game will never be finished , CCP will keep adding and adding things to the game and fixing things like someone else said this isn't a game it's a client , you won't buy it on a cd,which makes since cause it's easier to update

It is going faster then duke nukem, I won't complain unless it starts going slower then that. The difference between open beta and launch could be if there are wipes.
