I seem to lag a lot which means I can't kill people at all. I can be shooting at them and then they will randomly lag out and be in a different location.
Either it's lag, or there's a serious case of hackers already... I am putting it down to lag though.
Hopefully something can be done about it :).

In my experience, enemy teleportation is lag related, normally dropped packets between the client seeing the teleportation and the server.
I get the same issue every day at about 4PM local when the school kids log on to the internet to do their "homework", and it ends at about 9:30 - 11 pm local when parents put their brats to bed.
My best advice is to look up the IP adresses for the servers and run a program called "pingplotter" to them, and check the pingplotter logs when you are experiencing severe lag like that. The devs LOVE pingplotter logs being included when you file an official bug report (not just a forum complaint) about connectivity issues, as each one they get tells them TONS about the server connectivity & even more about the ISP providing the server's internet. Of course the odds are much better that your ISP's service to your area or your router are to blame, but if that's the case, pingplotter will at least show you where the fault lies - in my case the ISP couldn't provide a properly stable connection in my area, so they knocked 50% off the monthly bill.
*note*
CCP has changed ISP's for the Eve servers in London a couple times, but before taking such a drastic action they need proof that the ISP is not providing the contractually agreed upon level of service |

Today has been shocking for lag 'micro freezes' as they are called elsewhere..
Turn around and a guy is there with a pistol.. freeze, just for long enough for him to get around behind.
Vehicle appears... freeze (and so on)
Seems to happen particularly when they have just entered close combat. As noted, possibly because the system is trying load/download a texture?
Incredibly frustrating though. |
