We should be able to invite anyone to squad, and not be required to have them as a contact. In Eve we can do this and it should exist in Dust.
At the very least, we should be able to add corp mates to squad without having them as a contact. Currently loading the contact list can take up to 5 minutes, and I only have about 50-70 people on my list. |

The current squad invite mechanism is really poor.
Highlight person, invite to squad. Job done please.

Would be amazing as long as there are settings for auto-rejecting them. I would imagine it could get annoying for someone who is "famous" in game to get a ton of squad invites every time he wants to play a game |

I'm tired so i'm not sure i'm understanding what your point is.
There is a Search function for adding squad members that arn't in your contacts.
If you already knew there is a search then i guess you mean that the current Contact/Search for adding squad members is annoyingly slow.
My solution would be to add an "Add to Squad" Option to player info. Not sure how best to say it so i'll use a scenario.
In the chatrooms you see a list of players that occupy the chatroom on the left side. When you click on the name of one of those players you get options such as "Show Info, Mute Player, Unmute Player, Add to Contacts. I think:
- A player who is not in a Squad should have the added option "Invite to Squad" wherein a Squad is then formed with the player who sent the invite as the Host/Leader.
- A player who is in a currently active Squad and has the position of Squad Leader should be able to select the "Invite to Squad" option mentioned above.
- A player who is in a currently active Squad and IS NOT the Squad Leader should not be able to select the "Invite to Squad" option mentioned above.
