if you pause the video at 1:35 you can clearly see that in the descriptions of the battle they have , proto gear required , beginner, expert matches , which means that the noobs are gonna have their own playlist which is a good thing |

yeah its going to be good once the battlefinder is on track and has enough players to work properly, I can just imagine the amount of players that have been flogged and walk away after trying till they just couldn't tank it anymore. |

That is just the high sec matches. Corp matches, fw, any other low, and null sec will not be seperated. So basically don't leave hisec till you are ready to play against somebody with possibly more zero's after their sp and isk totals. In EvE, people start to be competitive in mixed sp battles between 3-12 million sp depending on role and player skill.
The advantage of 70million sp to 10million is not that big, 1 to 7 million is very one sided though. |

it was, but i was also still able to run my proto gear in those militia lobbies/servers too |

That is correct. I remember the build well. The proto was considerably different than the militia, unlike how it is today where proto is still good, but not far exceeding. CCP's explanation was basically to see what kind of a merc fighter you were. Are you the type to take proto gear into a noob match? Or do you play fair?
it was during that build that they removed that system, and replaced it with the current matchmaking one (which is broken btw). |

There is no matchmaking taking place. Just testing. The matchmaking has not been implemented as there are not enough players for it to really work.
They might be doing test matchmaking to gather data, in order to implement matchmaking successfully when the game goes public, but that is about it. |
