lets just face it, small missiles are clearly the best right now and if you want to argue against it you can try, but ill bet ill win that arguement 90% of the time.
my ideas to make the other two turret types better:
blasters shouldn't have a splash damage, that was a good try, but not enough, i personally would say instead of giving them area damage on the impact of the round, the rounds themselves should fly through the air with that AOE effect, this would make hitting infantry with them ALOT easier, especially for drop ships and LAVs where you dont get to land direct hits all to often. the reason this would work beter than splash damage is because most of the time you arent firing at the ground near an enemy, you are firing AT the enemy with blasters.
for rail guns, they need slightly less splash damage, but alot bigger of an AOE and then they need more effectiveness vs vehicles that way people could run with vehicles specifically for killing other vehicles. |

Agree a rail gun should hit a tank and then procced to hit anything behind the pre stated tank, they are extremly high velocity weapons so why would they not rip apart vehicles, missiles and blasters would be primarly anti infantry with misliles as a bit of a mid zone so they should be far less effective against vehicles well heavy ones at least, |

yes missiles AV damage is pretty good, but missile damage against infantry is dramatic |

If Blasters were treated like giant turret shotguns (effectively what they are in Eve) they'd have the same range but be much more effective as a Blasters. In their current build they're more like the Minmatar Auto-guns, which should have longer range then the blaster but scatter more. Make it rain bullets from above kinda thing.
I'd also like to see how they differentiate the Rail from Arty turrets. Rail are long, long range but usually weak where as Arty are medium/long range and do hellish amounts of alpha damage.
I'm unclear as to why most of the turrets are so different from their Eve counter parts. If it's the same universe why not base them on that? |

No point in using anything bar small missile turrets, particularly in LAV's at present. Its frustrating to find myself gunner in an LAV then I find a small blaster there
Missiles only have the drawback of being erratic when moving (for most turrets), however massive splash damage and infinite range. Blasters and rails are more accurate, however have no particular advantage over missiles. |

I know the difference in Eve, I've been playing that since it's release. My question is how they'll differentiate the two in Dust. Seeing as the Rail tank (ignoring the Forge gun) is already massive direct damage, will the arty have a large splash or will the shot arc if aimed high enough like modern artillery.
Since the DustBlaster is like Eve Auto-Guns and the DustRail is like Eve Arty what will the DustAuto-Gun and DustArty be like.
Yes, the only small turret worth using is the Missile. The drift needs to be fixed. Rotating the main turret of the tank shouldn't throw the small-missile turret's aim off by roughly 45'. There should be drift but not an arbitrary amount of drift set to any kind of movement.
Or make a new kind of launcher with a missile that compensates for it, probably low damage since it'll be accurate and annoy everyone. |

My theory is artillery will have an indirect fire capability. I'd like to see them split missiles up into rockets and missiles the way they are in EVE so we can have the dumbfires like now and maybe some manner of guided missile as well.
But yeah, I suspect we'll end up seeing a lot of changes to the way turrets work since, as mentioned, missiles are the only small turrets really worth using right now. |
