It's so much fun to just sneak up behind some poor sap, knives charged. More fun than it is to to actually make the kill. Why? Because as you creep closer, you know he isn't expecting what's about to happen. So I though to myself "Why not make a suit meant for stealthy blade kills?" And Thus I present the idea of the Assassin Dropsuit and the Impaler.
The suit would be kin to a scout suit but have a lower scan profile. It would also have lower shield and armor to counter balance the following features. The suit would be hard to spot, not just through low scan, but because it would utilize cloaking. The cloak would have limits of course, sprinting would distort the cloak to where you appear as a blurry silhouette, and using weapons brings you out of cloak. Unlike in EVE, you can turn the cloak on and off without waiting time. Remaining unseen is it's best defense due to it's low shield and armor. But at the same time, it can't kill while cloaked. So one needs to choose carefully when to strike.
It's signature weapon would be what I call the Impaler. A futuristic push dagger, only with a longer and thinner blade meant for penetrating armor. you use it exactly like nova knives by charging it up to strike. What also charges is a Flux Glove on the opposite hand. If you're close enough to the target when you strike, you grab the victim with the glove, depleting his shield. This sets him up for the killing impale. Yes, I would be an instant kill, but you are visible and vulnerable through the assassination animation. That and the victim can still be saved if you're killed before the impale part of the animation. This weapon is a primary weapon instead of a sidearm, that makes the user lightly armed if forced to engage in ranged combat.
It would take a lot of skill to wield the impaler, I say it should require nova knife proficiency lvl 5 to even start training the impaler skill. The same goes for the Assassin suit, lvl 5 scout suit (whatever race) requirement. This along with the price would make sure that it isn't overused.
So what do you folks think?

Makes an epic Tech-2 version of the Scout, which is slated to have a form of cloaking as well. Although it doesn't seem to have much use in-game, such a function would be a potential match-winner. when used to take out a critical healer unit in the types of tactical fights this game is meant to foster, the results might be more devastating than an Orbital Strike. |

After giving it some thought, I guess it could be used to hunt snipers or maybe even commanders when command suits are released. But you're right, other than that there isn't much it can do. Too one track....well, time for more thinking. |

I like this idea you could dedicate a small group to it allowing them to attack critical point going in getting what then need and getting out. If you employed the shimmer that kilzone scouts have while moving it would not be over powered
And if they allow silenced weapons i think they should be able to be used without breaking stealth. I like the fact that the are upgrades from current weapons and suits we have in the game and that Chosokabe Ite employed killzones brutal melee system with the way he has his impaler working. |

These are the properties of a cloaking device in EVE. Reader's digest version below:
- Significant reduction in rate of movement (to the tune of 90%)
- Cannot warp while cloaked
- Cannot lock targets or activate modules
- Require 30 second cooldown after de-cloaking to lock a target
- Come decloaked if you come within 2km of any object
Now obviously points two and five are completely inapplicable here, you're always less than 2km from the ground. The others, however, or some obvious analog there-to, could easily transfer over. So someone fit with an active cloaking device would move drastically slower, be unable to shoot, throw grenades, or use equipment, and remain unable to do so for some time after de-cloaking.
There is also what is called a "Covert Ops" cloaking device. This can only be fitted on a select few ships and does not have the restrictions against warping while cloaked, movement speed (some ships actually move faster cloaked), and has a reduced targeting cooldown which some ships can completely eliminate.
We could, then, extrapolate that there might be a T2 suit which can use a special cloaking device and allow it to function in a manner similar to OP's vision. When we get different faction suits we might even get different capabilities for each. For example, one made to use shotguns, one made to use melee, one for sneaking up behind people and throwing grenades, and the fourth...I dunno, I'm out of ideas. |

i think the scout suit as a whole needs a bigger scan profile reduction, and the type2 could be one that sacrifices an equipment slot for a slight cloaking effect that would activate like a armor rep |
