The good:
--The new graphics look awesome. The sniper rifle in particular looks really great.
--Movement is vastly improved over terrain. There's still plenty of terrain I can't climb, that isn't obviously unclimbable, but the stuttering/falling seems to be eliminated.
--Movement in general is much, much smoother. Can't thank you enough for that. I need to play around with my look sensitivity, though, cuz I'm still having some trouble moving my reticle fast enough to keep up with moving targets.
The bad:
--The ISK rewards are pretty well broken. Sorry guys. The effort is appreciated, though.
--Lag is still a big fat problem. I can't tell how it affects CGC, but I really hate pulling the trigger on the perfect sniper shot, only to have nothing happen.
--Something's screwy with the matchmaking--I think. My main character wound up in matches against vastly superior players. This might be because he has 1.4 million SP, but I'm still using 90% starter gear with that character, because I haven't been able to earn enough ISK to afford much more than skillbooks. I've finally been able to put together a standard level scout suit, and I'm still trying to earn enough ISK to buy enough copies to be able to play it. When you throw starter gear against high-level equipment, it isn't pretty. I don't know if this was because of the massive Eve ISK influx, or because the matchmaking system was tweaked, or because I was just playing at the wrong time. About two hours after I gave up on being able to ever kill anyone, I started a new character. With her, I was indeed matched with other players using mostly militia gear, and I did worlds better in combat. I really hope this doesn't mean I have to abandon the character I've been struggling to build up for weeks, just because he's only gonna fight people who will tear him to shreds. |

I don't see how CCP can address the last one, since it chronologically follows the matchmaking process, and if addressed, would invite abuse (deploy with militia gear to get kicked to the stronger team?)
I'm finding some matches horribly unbalanced too, but the biggest factor in one sided games is organization. If CCP incorporates players entire records in the matchmaking, we should eventually see fewer instances of well organized, historically strong players being matched up against disorganized players with horrible records of kills/deaths/victories/defeats, despite similar skill point totals.
I would assume they had me outclassed in all of those ways (more skill points, better records, better gear), but I don't know for sure about the skill points.
But when you put me, with a few hundred kills and just barely squeezing out a positive K/D, against a team with Mr. Zitro's squad, well...that's just no fun for anyone.
I don't get to play more than a couple of matches a night, and I think I actually earn more SP from the passive boost than from playing. I almost wonder if I should turn the passive points off. |
