Hello there.
I made a few testing on my fits yesterday with multiple Complex Light Damager and the damage multiplier on the fit showed :
- 1 complex LD : 1.10 - 2 complex LD : 1.21 - 3 complex LD : 1.33
So, instead of having a stacking penalty you get a stacking bonus.... I didnt try with the other type of damagers but i'm pretty sure you'd get the same bug. Now, is it just the "damage multiplier" in fit screen that is wrong or does it also impact in-game battles, that i dont know.
Will try stacking other type of modules that should have a penalty. |

Are you complaining that there was increased benefit at all to stacking? or of the amount of the increase?
AFAIK like in EVE, "stacking penalty" doesn't mean there is no benefit to using more than one unit. Using more than one module or stacking will ALWAYS give you increased benefit of whatever the item does.
What stacking penalty means, is that the geometric increase of %modifiers from using multiple items is dampened, so that it is closer to a linear growth.
ie. using 3 items is penalized so it doesn't give you 2*2*2= 8, more like 2*2*2=8-2penalty=6
another completely fictitious example: Back in the olden days of EVE, there wasn't a stacking penalty. So lets say you had a [fictitious for explanation only] module that could double your damage output. You would want to put the maximum of those that on your battleship, so here's what would happen with 8 slots: 2*2*2*2 * 2*2*2*2 = 256 times more damage! Everyone was killing each other with one shot. So CCP added a stacking penalty. 2*2*2*2 * 2*2*2*2 = 256 - penalty = 16 times more damage. Problem solved. You could still kill each other with one shot as long as the other person was in a starter ship, so you proceed directly to Yulai and begin murdering everyone in sight. Much more reasonable!:)

the stacking penalties are just that, penalties. they are supposed to decrease the overall effectiveness. so we dont have people with 3 complex's doing major damage. http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Stacking_penalty he should be showing 1.26 instead of 1.33 i believe the visuals on the damage mod are broken. i dont even feel like damage mods even work.... |

Exactly. At the moment there aint any penalty at all.
1.0 + 10% damager => 0.1 bonus 1.1 +10% damager => 0.11 => 1.21 1.21 +10% manager => 0.21 => 1.33
I just love how the previous poster just rolled in here saying how wrong i was without even taking time to make the basic math.... And yes i know EVE. And you shouldn't get those result with any "stacking penalties" item.
Should be 1.26 with 3 modules like Ima_Leet just said. See tab in link. |

lol yea, i couldn't even follow his math lmao. but personally i dont feel as though the damage mods are really working or all that beneficial. if i use them it leaves me soft and squishy so i die too quickly to try and out dps someone. i've been using shield mods to give me more HP
last build i used damage mods religiously and did well with them. this build it hurt me a lot, i switched to shield extenders and i'm doing better.
i'm always surprised when some people absolutely smash my face and i have no idea how they manage to kill me so quickly... edit: misspelled math.. derp |

"wrong!?!" . . . there was not a single thing in my post that even suggested you were wrong!

The answer then is that you were complaining about the -->amount<-- to which i OBVIOUSLY concede your calculations.
Not everyone in Dust plays EVE and I was just trying to help, not "roll in without doing any math" lol. IF YOU HAD PROVIDED THE STATS of the item in question, i could have done the math right away and anyone could have, sheesh some people are touchy.

It might not be displaying correctly, but the second module could still have its effectiveness reduced. With 2 10% damage mods I get a multiplier of 1.21...so who really knows what's up with that. I would give CCP the benefit of the doubt here and say that damage modifier displayed on the fit screen is incorrect. I didn't even work in the last build. |
