First, let me get my rant out of the way.
FFS you muppets, stop QQing about this being broken, and that being OP, and OMG Dust is dieing before its even been released, it doesn't help anyone and only shows how infantile you are. Give feedback, get on with TESTING, or go away.
Now, let me present my credentials and my point, that is, if you're still listening.
I was an Eve Beta player, I played Eve for around 7 years all in all. My character (Vicarrah) is still alive and well and in the hands of an old friend, maybe someday I'll get her back if I have the time. I quit Eve because it became too time intensive, I'm not a hardcore player, I'm a Dad, a Husband, a professional software developer (of nearly 20 years) and a semi-casual Gamer, in that order.
Now I'm in the Dust beta, and just like the Eve beta, it sucks in some ways and shines in others. What it does tell me however is that CCP are STILL at the forefront of gaming. This shizzle has never been done before, just like the technology and system behind Eve had never been done before it came along.
CCP have always had a longer view of gaming, and a vision of making some awesome games, and yes, they right royally bugger it up sometimes, but over time, what they have created is something unique and beautiful, and I do believe Dust will be no exception. The Eve beta had barely 1/100th of the functionality Eve has now, and while Dust is currently essentially limited, given some time, it's going to evolve, and TBH I don't think anyone playing Dust now has the foggiest idea of how good it will be.
So please, be constructive with your criticism, calm down, and settle in for the long haul.
TLDR: yes things are wonky, yes CCP sometimes overnerf and overbuff things, it'll settle down, give 'em a break.

Damn, this game is so broken...if it weren't for those damn overpowered dropships it might not be....they need to fix that sh*t before it kills Dust. Oh wait, sorry, skipped the first sentence, didn't I? What you don't seem to see is my first sentence IS feedback in the eyes of those "muppets" you talk about. Those "muppets" don't care what CCP made in the past, they care about what they do now, and what CCP is doing now sucks. Don't give that "test or go away" bullsh*t because the ONLY people that are reading this post right now are people that come to the forums to put in their feedback, your rage is wasted on the people that DON'T test, and DON'T come to these forums. And don't give me any "go away troll" because my post is completely constructive. |

Drop ships are overpowered at the moment. The rest I agree with. Good post. |

The thing is, I don't see why I should give CCP special credit for how they develop games. They're making an FPS, which is a far more competative market than space sims. I preferred Microsfts Freelancer to EvE. Do I prefer microsoft to CCP? Not really. Not too fussed about either of them. But it was, and still is better than EvE. It just lacked a giant server :( Basically, I rate them on what they're accomplishing with THIS game currently. For me this build has been a major step backwards in many respects.
I agree, people should try and stay objective, but in all seriousness, when the poop hits the fan, someone has to say it stinks. |

also +1 to OP, some valid, rational points well put. It's sad to see how threads like this get swamped under a tidal wave of QQ |

There's a fine line between criticizing a certain point of the game in a constructive way and claiming DUST is doomed before the game is even released. I am always amused at how everyone thinks they understand things like player markets, development strategies, and the difficulties that the CCP team is having with creating something as ambitious as DUST 514. Sometimes I just want to grab some people and say "******, if you don't like it, go create your own game!" Because honestly, whether we agree or not about the usefulness of this dropsuit or the uselessness of that swarm launcher, the fact is that CCP has stated many times that they will be dedicated in their improvement of the game for years and years. There won't be a situation where DUST 514 is dead a few months after launch, unless everyone at CCP suddenly dies or is kidnapped or some other impossible-to-happen scenario. And the people who like to claim otherwise in their posts are NOT doing ANYTHING to help the game, and should, in my opinion, immediately be banned and have their Beta pass revoked. |
