Now when this come out I would like to use my keyboard and mouse effectively as if im playing a game like starcraft for example rebindable keys, group toggle were you highlight the unit and you make a group with crl 1, the ablity to highlight objective the the current unit or group, the ablity to highlight enamy locations on map, use keyboard or mouse to scroll through the map and zoom in or out, the mouse left click is select and you can hold it to drag a square or box for multiple highlighted units, right click would be were to move, mabe holding down right click will give you a differt order screen for example, you show defend, attack, capture, enemy location, though are a few that could be done. Now im not hating on controler but when I thank rts I thank k/m I just want im use to. thank you for taking the time to read this. |

Absolutely 100% agree, if the commander function doesnt play like an RTS it is just plain wrong, and if CCP isn't smart enough to figure this out on their own, they are equally wrong. Still +1 and I commend the post, because even though I don't think this needs saying, if CCP seriously does mess this OBVIOUS decision up, serious corrections, and quite a lot of bitching and complaining will be needed to correct this egregious error. Hopefully they'll get it right though and we wont need to worry about this bit. |

Distilling OP... 50%...100% Basically, make sure that the MCC commander post is done right when we get it, using top-grade RTS games as an example.
Now for my layout idea, based on control type.
KBD : just like any old RTS. Even if the controller options are somehow good (very unlikely, given the RTS track record), KBD should be the go-to and the benchmark.
Move : Point to a spot on the map, then press a face button to make an "instant" command. Using the trigger in combination issues a related alternate. sample arrangement below
>Move button: rally point. >Trigger(T)+Move: APC/dropship pickup and dropoff
>X: Attack target! >T+X: Flank target!
>square ( [] ): Defend this spot/target! >T+ [] : Plant mines here!
>circle (O): Capture/control this area! >T+O: Move here to flank!
>Triangle (tri): Need vehicle support/bombardment of this area! >T+tri: Dropship hot-drop this area!
Dualshock : Basically the same "instant command" layout as Move, only using analog sticks instead. |

I see that working for controler and it might work for k&m butwe wont know until they put it in game. |
