would be nice, right. but i dont think the ps3 is capable to handle bigger maps with all the codes and sounds, physics, rpg elements etc ingame... the ps3 reached with dust514 at his limit it seems so. What you see in the beta is what you get at final stage. |

I don't think that is entirely true Bishop. During the final build of the game I think we will have some more controll of the types of structures on a map as well as their placement. This means that we could build huge, sprawlingly dense cities it we so wished. These are going to be player placable structures so we should end up with some really awesome maps to play on. Don't forget about the huge space elevators and eve player place mining infastructure either. Add that to the fact that CCP has stated its intent to have us able to battle on every type of planet that exists in eve and you have an amazing number of map configurations. Maps in this game are going to be like nothing we have ever played with before. |

Yeah, the whole map is already there and the PS3s, well at least mine, are handling them splendidly most of the time. Even the 5 point map. Only lagged out on it twice.
Makes me wonder what they might find out in stress testing when it comes time to find out exactly how many players can the PS3 handle on a battle field if we can get rid of the undetonated grenade bug. I'd love to see huge fully utilized combat zones. |

You're right -- the level design team needs to sit on their thumbs and wait for the QA team to confirm issues with hit detection and lag before they start working. Or, you know, use their topographical design skills to muddle through the coding that another group is working on because having a streamlined process isn't any more efficient than just throwing as many people as possible at one issue and ignoring all of the other goals you've made for a game's advancement.
The might be more going on than you think. |

What do you mean ps3 can't handle it. look at Battle Field 3 there is so much going on in that game with large citys, graphics and sounds .Dust 514 could put more to the maps but dont get me wrong i love this game .i think they will put more into it. |

Different and more detailed maps would be sweet. For now though, how about opening the existing maps up to full size? Half the OP bitchings on this type or another (player or equipment) are result of all classes of combatants are jammed into what is essentially a closed arena.
For public battles, the status quo is not bad. It is a training ground, New Eden's version of a tutorial. Now that we can do corp battles, lets let corporations battle it out for a full district. The different roles that Dust already has in play do not mix well in a barroom brawl environment. It does not give an accurate picture of balance on the battlefield that is to be.
For example.. most people hate snipers. How common will they be when they have to run 8km to get into position. When they get there, they find that their hostiles aren't packed in like sardines as they are now. Even getting to a decent perch at that range either means *effort* running, or being an active part of your team if you expect a ride. This only promotes team/corp play.
I could get into a jungle map, but with hit detection not ironed out without a tree in the place... might just be something to look forward to.

From a "lore" perspective it makes sense that all these outposts and installations are in out of the way places. During the cold war no major world powers spent a lot of effort building military installations in the middle of any major population centers. You just would not want to put anything that makes an attractive target for an orbital bombardment right in the middle of a shopping mall, kind of thing.
Also, read through the thread that asks beta testers to post a request for any and all "dream" maps and you sill see quite a few suggestions. I think we will see a surprising number of maps over time. Another reason to support this game and hang with it while all the bumps get ironed out, they will keep making new maps and won't charge any of us a cent. THere will be no DLC. Just new stuff.

I totally missed where you are going with the first paragraph. Dust districts are set up to be industrial or strategic assets. None are in any cities where shopping centers get shelled. Cold war.. what?
Second paragraph, yes there are thousands of maps to come. Hanging with is no trouble for free or with a sub. The last map we got was a welcome addition (even though I hate that map), I agree with OP that some new map content would be great. Preferrably size, IMO.

Not true, the PS3 is a super powerful console like the Xbox and what ever, it's just, there's no point in adding that great stuff during the beta let alone closed beta.
First get game running smoothly, no hiccups, or not allot at least, get everything stable for the most part Next add something new to the formula, a bigger map maybe? more weapons and drop suits... Get game running smoothly, no hiccups, or not allot at least, get everything stable for the most part Add something else, more maps, more guns, more dropsuits, mods what ever Get game running smoothly, no hiccups, or not allot at least, get everything stable for the most part Add something...
get the drift? so if you just go straight for the turkey with out first washing your hands then your going to have a bad time...
don't ask about the analogy...
point is they have to get the game going smoothly with what they have before they advance, this is truly amazing to see in todays gaming world of "get it out there ASAP so we can make another one in a year and charge people more money"
