And thus the sarcasm was woefully and truly slain from the response, though it would be days before the ants carried enough of it away for it to be truly forgotten. |

I'm guessing maybe the Merc Pack (or something similar) may be purchasable as a voucher in store, similar to how they sell other PSN games and DLC? |

I don't trust any announcements anymore from Gamestop or EB Games (they are both own by the same company). Especially after what they did to the promotional cards from OnLive that were included in the copies of Deus Ex: Evolution.
For those of you of don't know, Gamesstop practically received a shipment of brand new copies of Deus Ex: Evolution that each included a promotional card for downloading a free digital copy of the game via the OnLive gaming service. Gamestop went ahead and took out the cards from the cases and then shredded them. They then proceeded to sell the copies as "brand new" to the customers without telling them anything about it while many customers bought the copies for the promotional cards so that they might be able to give it to their friends. It was all over the news and Gamestop's PR didn't do well in recovering some people's loss of trust with the company. There is also the fact that after spending $60 on a game the company is only willing to pay you $9 if you want to sell it to them for in-store credit. They even charge you a fee if you wanted cash and then they go ahead and sell the used copies for $20 each. Of course, the vast majority of their sales actually come from selling used copies. Go ahead, go to their stores and look at which copies are promoted more... of course, used copies. |

Maybe for launch their could be a printed plastic card similar to the psn cards. Put the "box art" on it and have it be a merc pack like offer, since there is no need for disk. A box with disk to save the time of downloading for people with slow internet or use limits could work too.
The eve box I had was commissioned officer edition and let you skip the standing grind(like a few hours worth tops) to get into faction war. Something similar for dust, could even reuse the name. I suggest a dragonfly assault suit and a bpo standard ar to replace the toxin smg and scout suit, this should entice some of the "why would I buy a second merc pack" people into getting it. |

I was gonna say, they'll probably have a "special edition" of sorts with all the fixings, some AUR, and a few unique items. |

Even if there was a boxed edition. There will still be a download option. EvE had a $20 box or a $20 download, the box came with more stuff. So, dust could have a boxed limited edition, a $20 download, and a free download, each with different stuff included.
Do you have a link or anything to this boxed edition confirmation? I would probably buy it, so I would like to read the source of this rumor to try to glean details from it. |

It's not suprising. As with most major EvE expansions there is a box edition made with some special goodie attached.. same thing probably happening here
Oh and did I mention : EB games are le suck suck suck. Been 5 years since I walked into one of thier stores and hope to never again. 2 dollars for a game only 2 months old with case/book and mint... for them to turn and sell it for 40 bucks, no thanks |
