Cheating of any sort, including exploitation, sabotage, etc., will result in all members of the cheating team being banned from both DUST 514 and EVE Online-«.
CCP reserves final judgment in all cases regarding the rules.
This rule needs to be clarified |

I have a feeling CCP wants to install a sense of community among the corps for right now, so the staples of EVE (backstabbing, sabotage) will probably not be allowed. Though once this goes public I really hope you can buy off mercs. |

Not necessarily, as long as they give a good show, it could certainly be possible to be working for a different team and purposely feed kills to ensure the victory of the other.
This is what CCP want right? |

I say this mostly because it's against the official rules of the tournament to cheat, but as you pointed out that rule isn't very clear. Since it's still in beta though my guess is they want to make sure everything is running smoothly before putting in more complicated tactics corps can do such as buying off mercs. I fully believe this will be a feature people can do later, but it still seems to early for it right now. It might be bad to have people back stabbing this early in the game when corps are really just getting off the ground. Got to walk before you can run.
Also, a lot of EVE's fame comes from pulling of major heists and doing shady things. If CCP wants to get attention for Dust through stuff like that it wouldn't make sense to allow people to betray in a closed beta. I would imagine they would want to wait for it too go public before going "Oh yeah, Friendly Fire is on if you secretly signed up for another corp, but are still on your old corps side". |

This is a "legal" tournament. So no back stabbing, exploitation, goonery, or hooliganism for now. |

Legality is determined by the rules
Lets see what the official CCP reply is |

Well obviously if you don't get caught it would be ideal |

Tournaments are different. If you follow EvE Online's alliance tourney that CCP hosts, they have altered rules and filters to siphon out exploiters (However, they never alter rules once the tournament is commenced i dont think, just take note for future changes). Certainly you will never see (atleast to my knowledge) intentional TKs, at worst someone may just leak setups and there is nothing CCP can or would do about that. |

There has been attempted TKs, and it was all within the rules.
CCP needs to be much more clear on if they are referring to using bad game mechanics, exploits, etc, or if meta-gaming is also covered. |

Some of the metagaming and backstabbing potential is already locked out of the beta anyway, due to the fact you can't really have an alt join a different corp and then sabotage them from within, due to the fact that anyone can see your psn on any of your characters. And I notice a lot of people use the same name for the main as they do for their psn, so a quick check of a new recruits psn is usually enough to see if they're a well known player or not, or at least potentially an alt.
I presume this measure was put in place to prevent such metagaming in the beta. |

Theres a very obvious and easy solution to this |
