I see this pop up in any discussion that's gained some momentum. Every time there is a hotly debated issue some sage would materialize out of thin air and end all doubt with a concise phrase full of gravity. "Dust was (or was not) intended to be this or that way". And most of the time there would not be any extra comment to further the explanation. Sounds familiar?
So my question is: who are these ppl who claim that there is some sort predefined destiny of how Dust is meant or supposed to be. I mean how can someone say with any certainty things like: 'A scout has been always intended for blah blah blah and they were never meant to circle strafe' OR 'This game was meant to emphasize vehicular play heavily with infantry FPS battles being an afterthought' Where does this certainty come from? Sometimes it feels like there is a Dust bible somewhere that has been revealed only to chosen few. Maybe there is a passage in there why this beta has been so full of suffering because there is a higher meaning to it?
I guess the meaning of my post is this - why do some ppl assume that there is some sort of a predefined game model for Dust rather than allowing beta testing to take the path of evolution and keep what works and get rid of things that don't or even getting rid of things that players dislike? |

They're either idiots, or the site actual references made by CCP, and then twist their words. Sensible people like me just like to this... http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/04/29/dust-514-promises-to-be-a-game-changer-an-interview-with-ccp-games-ceo-hilmar-petersson/

Others, like me, have read and watched everything CCP has released or said about DUST since the first fanfest teaser. Once you've watched through the hour long fanfest presentations, etc, then you too can join the discussion. |

EDITED
There is one reason for the "Its suppose to be this way" comments.
some MUMMY'S and DADDY'S always give their children exactly what they want when they want it, unfortunately messing the childs life up forever. Little Johny has now been conditioned so that he believes the Sun Stars and Moon revolves around him. If he wants to buy a game then that game best be EXACTLY how he wanted it and if its not the Forum readers will know his WRATH.
So all the comments "Dust was (or was not) intended to be this or that way" can be translated to "Johny wants dust this way and Mummy and Daddy say what Johnny wants Johny gets" |

The irony of your post is to much.
The fact of the matter is ccp does what ever the circle jerking evetards ask for. You ask for a strafe nerf. We get a strafe nerf. Evetards tell ccp to jump. ccp jumps.
The mag/CoD players have no say in this beta and ccp has made it quite clear. |

That was a good read. So much promise. But the execution is not living up to the promise so far, and given the gaps between what's in the interview and what we have now, then considering the date today, I just can't see a AAA release by year end....unless CCP have a rabbit in their hat that nobody knows about....but I doubt it.....
My guess is they are behind schedule and over budget and will need to cut corners to make the launch by year end....my reasoning is all the gimmicky stuff they are selling, to lower the ramp up costs, but at the same time, the changes to gameplay quality are too slow..... |

Hit my example on the nail there mate. Its not all doom and gloom you can change from being a spoilt brat its difficult but it can be done with practice.
To fix your wrongful assumptions. this is a Beta, we test and provide feedback on mechanics and bugs. CCP nerfed strafe speed because it wasn't working as intended and was giving the scout suit too much of an advantage, CCP changed it to bring it in line with their vison.
EVE is a complex game i don't think you'd find too many "Tards" able to play. this is also a highly offensive word, you should be more careful, remember those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. You dont come accross too mentally stable yourself.
CCP has always done what CCP want to do regardless of popular uprisings, Just looks to the eve forums for how many changes have been implemented against the wishes of those that Play eve.
Just because CCP makes a change you dont agree you come here and spit your dummy like the spoilt brat you are.
Good Day. |

There's over 9000 goons. I've been told less than 20 have a brain. By EvE players.
And if people are offended, they're welcome to report me or whatever. I'm tired of writing the same posts 45 days apart every build. |

I am glad I started this discussion. A good place to actually discuss our differences. It looks like we mostly have two parties:
A. Eve players who play this game because it's part of EvE and to do some FPS for a change. And I think this is the crowd who tends to believe in a certain 'vision' by CCP and and use this vision as an imperative to measure the end product of beta by.
B. PS3 FPS community. I think it's largely unfair to group MAG and COD, since those two games are quite different and appeal to different game demographics but for the sake of this discussion I will leave this as a single group. I'll readily admit that I belong to the MAG community, and so I am in this bunch bringin in all my biases. (I do play eve too but I am not heavily affected by it.) So, this group B is interested in Dust primarily because it's an FPS with a heavy 'clan' system and world persistence emphasis. And what's important to group B is that it's a competitive FPS that conforms to the industry's online shooter standards. And this is why group B tries hard to influence the end product of beta to better mould the game to the expected shooter standards regardless of what CCP's original vision may have been. To this group of players CCP is just a developer who should vie and compete for a player base the same way other developers on the market do.
So, what do you say? Is this a fair description? |

Just read a couple of offensive comments (offensive names). Please cut it off; other members of the community may feel offended by that and the thread will finish in flames.

Well, After read all comments in this thread, I have made the decision that there is not reason to continue with the discussion (there is not discussion) so in order to avoid a big war between one group of players and other group of players I going to close this thread.
thank you. |

Seriously its nothing to do with where you came from its about how you feel the game should be and ultimitaly it comes down to their being 4 or so camps
On one hand we have the lads from eve often they are more used to how things are done by this particular dev team and are more patient,
Then there are the tactical players from the likes of Battlefield, Arma and other joined arms games who think that the circle strafing is rediculus and have long tested skills in battlefield Awarness and advanced use of tactics so they are critical of people boasting about dancing skills and aiming (to a tactical player their is alot more to aiming than pointing and shooting to take into account),
There is the Pure Arcade players they hail from the likes of Halo and find that tactical methods of play to be too slow and boring often work well as a individual but often lacking when it comes to team work, their main focus is on what they call gunplay which as far as i can tell is a combination of evasion or dancing and tracking often refered to as aiming.
Then there are the people from in between arcade and tactical they would hail from things like MAG which did have a very good ability to combine both styles and cod which is pretty much outcasted by both sides not wanting to accept it as part of their group but like it or not COD is one of the big ones out there that has a massive player base that we could commindere if Dust is handeled right.
there are also people who have backgrounds in multiple game styles but most will have prefference. The point of this post is that concole kid or evetard very often doent has anything to do with the arguments its personal preference when it comes to play style its the different groups, and as far as i can tell no group is getting their way it just so happens that the lattest nerf to straffing has pissed off one group while apeasing another one. |
