Every now and then I seem to get blasted by one of these. Are they effective at hitting a target? I'm aware of the splash damage, but according to the stats it has a smaller blast radius than grenades.
I'm aware that they are very effective against vehicles. Just wondering how they fair against other players. ^_^ |

It takes some skill but a forge to the face is effective at killing.
You can even snipe people with em. |

The slow charge time deters from heavy anti infantry use, but it's fun. They can be pretty accurate at around 300m cause of the blast radius. The standard forge was best IMO because you could move while it's charged, but your slow and you had best not miss cause you only have one shot in close quarters. You continue to have ammo issues though and the smg becomes your best friend.
It's a fun AI weapon but I wouldn't call it effective. |

The forge is effective once you get used to it, but you absolutely have to pay attention to the limitations it has against small, fast moving targets like infantry.
A few nights back I was in a match where the opposing team was (no joke) at least half full of snipers. They didn't capture objectives or even try to break out of their spawn. So, I took it upon myself to snipe back.....with my forge gun. There is no greater feeling than counter-sniping someone with a forge or watching them run/bunny-hop away.
Again, they're great fun once you get the hang of them.
The two I use are the main forge (can hold charge, 3.5 charge time) and the assault (no charge hold, 2.5 charge time, more damage) and they are both great. |

Forge can out snipe snipers with a few matchs of practice and can rain a down fire if you get up high(go with the fastest shooter if your feeling like bombarding people) they can shoot down dropships better than swarms and can wipe out tanks fairly easy. A forge can do it all just use it right and it has more uses and power than ARs it has more range and damage than snipers, more killing power than swarms and is like a direct fire mass driver point shoot their dead.
That heavy suit requirement they have means they can take the damage while the forge charges up so the heavys a plus.
Pretty much they easier to learn than mass driver(same concept though) and very versitile all you have to do is put in skill and isk and a two or three matchs of practice and you have a killing machine. |

My point with some practice and conservtism they are the best weapon in the game and are more than capable of doing evrything better than all the other guns all you have to do his aim.
Regular and assault versions are the only ones that count thpugh just take faith in you heavys armor and aim |

HAHAHA... oh Avenger you crack me up...
Forge Guns are only decent at medium-long range, just out of AR range. You are dead before you can get a shot off otherwise. The Forge has a decent amount of deviation, making any kill outside of shotgun range on a still target a work of luck as much as skill, and sniping with it is out of the question unless the target is an HAV. It is great fun, and it can hit a sniper because they never move, but it usually takes several tries... which is hilarious, cuz the sniper hears huge chunks of slag flying past him a few times and never things they were meant for him until he get's ''one shotted by that OP Forge sh*t'' |

They seem to be like a heavy, anti-vehicle version of the charge sniper.
I usually have to think like a sniper to keep cover, and look for long range targets of opportunity. Im trying to skill up into Heavies with this char, i like the idea of the weapon, but im still luke-warm to it. |

In the previous build I was in Heavy Suit Type 2, Breach Forge Gun, plus 15 percent damage boost (I think), and I have all my skills up to level 5 on all Forge Gun related skills. I forgot how my armor was, but it was 1800 something, and my shield generates really fast. I also have all my shield and armor skills related up to level 5. I really grinned those skills because tanks and dropships were dominating the game. With the Skill CAP on this build, it's going to be a long way for me to catch up. |
