As far as we can tell, we have the current movement speeds we have now due to many of our community making the assumption that speed somehow makes a game less "tactical". I admit that I used to be a part of that camp, but I've seen the light over these two weeks, and its clear to me that the movement speed in this game needs a serious buff.
The nerfs came from giant whine threads, so let's fight fire with fire and make a bigger thread to bring the speed back up to what it should be. |

I strongly think that the new infantry physic model is a big part of the slow straf\movement. same goes for bumping each other (sooooooooooooooooo annoying) or taking 150 HP damage for falling back 20 centimeters when trying to climb a small hill................
I hope CCP will react to all of this (speed, sp cap, etc.) soon. Maybe tomorrow with their weekly update. |

Agreed. Individual suit speeds aren't the issue so much as the overall walk and sprint speeds are. That coupled with the fact that you can only run in a straight line crushes movement freedom and game intensity. Snipers wouldn't have such an easy time picking off people braving the middle of the map, and as it is they do have quite an advantage with these huge maps.
Before anyone says it, I didn't mean you should be able to sprint strafe. Play Borderlands and you'll know what I mean by not having to run in a straight line. It's like running forward at a slight angle. Perhaps a tiny bit slower than a straight forward run, but still faster than walking. It lets you veer around objects without turning your whole camera to the side or stopping and walking when in a dead run.
Edit: And as for the prone issue you came up with the idea on this topic in, regardless of speed I still think prone needs to be put in. It's a legitimate tactic now, always has been, and always will be. From the time our ancestors were hitting the deck to dodge dinosaur diarrhea splatter till our sun implodes people have been and will be dropping to the dirt to avoid getting hit by stuff. Make it have a long-ish (1-2 seconds at least) animation that prevents dropshots and the like and I'm cool with it. |

I've actually gotten used to that in most other games I play, so my first few experience with Dust where attempting to do that would of course cancel my sprint were rather annoying. |
