So I've been playing a while now, time to write this up. Bold are bugs
There are sparklies in the background image on the connection screen where the NDA etc is, looks weird. No it's not my hdmi cable as it's the only spot they exist.
Spaceships on startscreen look lowres, pump up the polycount/texture res on everything. It doesn't need to run faster than 30fps. Would be nice to see some EVE ships in there too.
Cool that you're using the fanfest video for the game intro, will it release with this vid or will there be a new one?
Tutorial was cool, though that could be because I knew what was up already...
Gallente CQ looks cool, nice that dynamic lights are finally in, though I really want to be able to sit down on my couch...
Chat stuff is all cool, though I'd like to be able to invite people to my squad without adding them to contacts.
Chat swaps to team chat while I'm typing if I get pulled into a match via a squad, not cool this...
The kitten stuff is a bit overdone, I'd like to be able to write assault rifle.
Skillpage is cool and works well
Dropsuit page is a bit slow to get into but considering what it's dragging off the server it's cool.
Being able to clearly see what's missing when a suit is invalid is very nice.
Would like to be able to swap the underlying suit of a fit if possible, nuking all my fits and remaking them just because I can run a better suit is annoying.
Though duplicate fit is very useful, good stuff.
There are some modules, the meta codebreaker comes to mind, that are named the same for isk and aurum, yet the dropsuit page always selects the aurum versions when restocking, annoying. Change the name so it works.
On the codebreaker, it's awesome :) keep it as is.
After restocking all the things that I had ran out of the red dot stayed on the dropsuit fitting button on the neocom.
Warbarge room looks cool, excluding the caldari junk everywhere :P When will the holomap thinggy change to the map we're fighting on?
Can't add someone else to a squad while on the warbarge, isn't the whole point of this bit to do that?
If you wallhug around the holomap, the player partially falls through the floor.
Love jumping out of the barge :) Though I'd like to be able to spin while i'm falling so I can orient myself right.
Bonus points for hitting the dampener super close to the ground? Only has to be 25 max or so.
When spawning elsewhere, it'd be nice to be dropped in from the air or shot out the side of the warbarge on a ballistic trajectory. I really despise magically appearing on the ground, it's unfair to everyone, either the dude I spawned behind who has no chance to do anything about it or me who's now half armor before the fadeup finishes. I can live with not spawning nearby things undercover, will gladly sacrifice it to prevent being shot on a spawnpoint.
Maps look great, you've fooled me a couple of times by mixing up the terrain colour, lighting and buildings.
Would love more dusk or even night-time fighting, seeing headlights around a corner is always exhilarating.
Any vegetation getting added in? Even if its small stuff like grass would be really nice to see on the grassy terrain types.
It's be especially appreciated to show the goat trails up mountains a bit more clearly. A lot of these deadend as far as collision with the world is concerned even though it looks like you can still keep going up.
There's areas you can get stuck in on the map with the sideways rocks, not cool these. The hill that everyone snipes from, opposite side of B and a couple of the sideways rocks mostly. A good run around and cleanup of these would be apreciated.
No ladders on the refinery B/C point building? My inner sniper has a sad everytime I see these. Also where is the cannon in that area, I don't think I've ever seen it capped.
All 3 of the building setups for the B/C area are very cool, though the small one, the north building needs a another entrance into it, way too easy to camp it up in there.
I like being able to get up more on the hills surrounding the map, makes all the wannabe snipers run up there thinking they're being all tactical. Much easier to countersnipe them
Standard assault rifle is cool, probably too much so.
In general this build feels a lot more lethal, didn't initially like it but it's grown on me.
Tactical rifle feels broken, Glad it's back to semi auto but it doesn't feel like it has more range than the standard one.
Scrambler pistol is cool, though wtb moar ammo...
Sniper rifle is shaweet, keep as is. I especially like sniping people so far away that the aiming dot is bigger than what I'm trying to hit, very amusing.
On sniping (or more accurately at range), dropsuits show up as solid black against the fog.
Don't get the point of the tactical sniper rifle, less damage and a smaller magazine. Swap the magazine with the standard sniper rifle or better yet drop the damage evn more and give it a 12 round mag.
On reloading, if you run before the reload animation has fully finished, ie the gun is fully back down, it doesn't count. reloading is done when the magazine is in the gun. Add an interrupt on the animation here please.
That's all the weapons I've used this build. Haven't had to really use the Swarm launcher enough yet to have an opinion and haven't needed an smg or shotgun. Only used assault suits so can't speak to the heavy weapons though it sure feels like the HMG is actually useful now.
Flux grenades are cool. Though I currently can't see the point of using the better than basic ones as the basics completely remove the shields of everyone I've thrown them at.

Cool that jumping out of dropships keeps the momentum. Got flung way sideways when I jumped out of one that was spiraling into the ground after being shotdown.
I despise the push the direction you want to go LAV controls. Can we please get normal driving accelerate brake button maps please.
The LAV's that you can spawn on, can they have a couple of seconds leeway after someone exits it please.
Glad that the bombardment strikes are pulled back from where they were, though it's probably a bit too far, they only occasionally pop up now.
Would be nice to not get dropped into a match that's impossible to win. If even taking all the points from when I spawn till my MCC dies means I can't win, its very hard to be motivated to do anything.
The Null cannon points are cool, but very squishy and people get flicked up when it's overcrowded in there. Maybe remove the cover from the panel side of it? or expand the area inside?
Missile launcher turrets like shooting Nova Cannons, why?
Will we be able to start shooting the MCC's again? Even if it's minor compared to the Null cannons, it'd be nice to have.
I think that's about it. Will add more to the wall of text as I see things.
Good stuff CCP keep it up |
