seems to me like last build player movement was much faster and alot better. what can be done to make this go back to the way it was last build? can we get our player movement back to how it was CCP? it made it that much harder for people to kill one another and i like a challenge.

I liked the way someone put it earlier.
Learn to use your cover & take advantage of the speed you already have. Between last build and this build the biggest thing they changed was hit detection. Get out of the way of the heavy or assault who's steamrolling you and fight smarter.
Also, 3/10 troll post. The topic is a bit overdone at the moment. |

Player movement in the last few builds were horrible. Every time a couple of opposing mercs encountered one another they would circle around each other like they were doing the Salsa dance listening to 'Celia Cruz'. It was ridiculous. It wasn't until precursor that the movement started to improve and finally seems balanced in the codex build. No more Salsa Dancing. |

Slow turn and strafe speed favors and encourages defensive play. This style of play, though effective, can also be a real downer. It gets called things like "turtling" or "camping" and so on.
Though the barn dancing (I wouldn't call it a salsa) from E3 through Precursor looked goofy the game play was actually more directly corresponding to player's capabilities to react and manipulate their controllers.
Imagine playing a game of Tetris where, no matter how quickly you can react to the pieces falling down your screen, no matter how fast you move your controller to turn the pieces to align them properly, they only move at a rate where a full 360 degree rotation takes three seconds, and it takes five seconds to move a piece from one side of the screen to another.
It would be a cruel joke of a game.
If aiming were precise and responsive, the slower every build clunky movement would not be as much of a problem. But, at least when using a DS3 that is not the case. |

Forget about strafing speed. This topic has been beat to pulp. I have another concern - dualshock stick control is not very responsive. It does not provided a good gradual rotation speed in this game - it seems that the rotation speed is either too slow when you lightly press on the stick or already too fast to be precise when you press the stick a little harder but the transition zone with moderate rotation speeds is just too narrow. This makes it a lot harder to use controller for precise aiming compared to some other games, for example, MAG. At least in my hands. |

Yeah, CCP need to work a little on aiming acceleration. The DS3 is known for having a large deadspot, but it's really not that bad once you are used to it. The topic isn't over done. The gameplay is ALL about camping. Until the fans of slow strafe speed accept that the game is all about holding ground not taking ground, I'll keep trying to drum it into their heads. |
