So there has been a break-up of sorts in Betamax. What is important to note out here is the way this happened? All of a sudden the top members are gone. Which brings are very important point in recruiting, would you rather have someone who is a great killer but may not stick with you or would you rather have someone who is a good killer but will stick with you?
This I feel will be the recruitmend trend going forward. I highly doubt most of the top players on the boards will ever find a permanent place to be in reason being they will always be a target of hostile corporate recruitments. All the jumpmans and alldin kans and god novas will always be a target for another corporation/allaince. Now you may have a bunch of great players in the same corporation, but when it comes to corporation warfare I feel they wont be able to put up the numbers. Ego also plays a big part here. Lets face it, if you are good you will definitely have some sort of ego! Comes with the territory.
If I am correct, if an alliance were to defend all districts on a planet (which is 10 maps), they would have to put up 160 - 320 players at any given point of time. These numbers are huge to put up! You will need meat shields or zergs.
What would you do if you were a corp/alliance leader?
What would you do if you were a recruit?
Who would you like to game with if you were a recruit? |

i still think eventually smart clans will implement a "deposit" system.
not a scam, but a real deposit system:
you want in? you're meh gamer, unknown, not really aggro, just kinda wanna play = 1mill isk
you're good, kinda a pain in the ass, really wanna play = 500 isk
you're great, people hate you, you play without question = 250k
so if the meh player comes in and tanks and then babys up and leaves... so what? same for the other 2 types.
to be honest, wtih as much clan hopping goes on in the console community, i think most clans would make more money off deposits that get forfeited due to departure then from corp battles.

I'd rather have people in my corp, by my side who weren't necessarily the best but who cared about the corporation they were in, not just the offer they were given. |
