I'm really liking the signature damping module, but never tried the active scanner.
It would be interesting to get a group of players together and test active scanners on a player with no damping module and one with (etc). Can 't see it being possible for us beta testers, but the figures would be interesting. |

No your not mate - there are plenty in the Warriors
Do the scanners really work then? May give them a go next then. What sort of range are you getting? |

I can't say i've used one yet but the idea sounds good in theory.
It maybe time to start fitting damps. |

Heheh really lads dont bother. If Im lucky I can detect and LAV about 3 seconds before I'm road kill. Have done some testing with corp mates on the other team but on same coms.
Could not detect a logi suit who was in shotgun range behind cover on the 4 point map but you can detect hostile suppy depo's which is super handy for when you have totaly forgotten where they are or if like me your worry that they might actualy get up and move about when no one is looking. Ever since that supply depo made a post about how hard it is doing its job I kinda think we need to keep an eye on them.
Sensor damps work rather well. Had a load out with the milita damps (that are lowslot items no idea why) and I also put a standard one in my mid slot.
I felt like a total ninja hiding in the shadows like badass assasin with enemy all around me. When the time was right i pounced on the weak one at the back of the group , the kill was mine he had no idea what was about to happen but I fell and died from the 10 meter drop. As I lay on the ground requesting help I knew it was no use, I was alone and sadface knowing I was an idiot and so waited to bleed out anyway to prolong the pain and be as emo as possible.
@ Frank A . Little over 75 meters but Im certain everyone has dropsuit command lvl 5 and sensor damps fitted because i cant seem to find anyone..
Also I think its directonal but will try facing away from a supply depo or LAV and see today. <----- totaly sure that wont get me killed its alwasy a good idea to keep your back to the hostile supply depos because no one ever camps out near those. |

Hmmm, Does the sensor dampning 'damp' the range your friendly medic can see you at? Just wondering if you noticed |

I'm sure it won't be supposed to but knowing CCP (<3) for years it may have been 'overlooked' |

Yea I half expected to fire the scanner and find myself back in Canterlot with the other ponys.
Ow one thing that positive is that the skills that let you use the active scanner let you flag up enemys better on the map as long as you look roughtly at em which is nice. |

I tried one or two games with an active scanner and got bored with it instantly.. The sole fact that you need to take it in hand and actually use it feels off to me. It seems like there's not much of a point using it. Better add a profile analysis module. |

One of my goals is for my dropship to carry an active scanner, that way my partners on the ground don't get surprised by anything. |

Personally I think the active scanner should just be a proximity detector, detecting enemies within the radius of the scanner. The scanner would have a fairly accurate precision, but a scout decked out with high skills and/or profile damps should have a good chance of remaining undetected. |

Passive scanning is 360 degrees in your suit. The active scanner I would rather have directional, but with much much greater range than 75m.

We tried it a few games with olssam ...
Interesting, but need to be test at lvl 5 equipment. Sometimes, when you're not on the same level than ennemies, it doesn't work...
Well, still testing it ! |

So, can anyone confirm that the active scanners can actually detect infantry like they are supposed to? I did some testing and am under the impression they can not, for whatever reason (see this thread)
Btw, active scanner is unidirectional, just like passive scanning. |
