I'm not talking about the game failing, I'm talking about after 3-5 years, when the game gets down to diehards only....
New Eden will still be going strong, same size, DUST514 will be integrated fully into EVE at that point....
But then, the playerbase starts to dwindle in DUST.
Isn't that a bad thing?
Hardly. That's when things are MUCH MORE interesting. because now the demand for Dust mercs will be higher than ever, but the supply of them will be lower than ever.
There will be people talent scouting other games, trying to draft people back into DUST. There will be wars and ISK spent to try and secure allies and reliable dust mercs that don't just screw you over.
I think DUST 514 for the first year or two will be nothing like DUST514 of 2 years and beyond.
And once the game settles into the long term game, that's when you need to put your thinking cap on. Because what you do to screw people over today, will limit your ability to make money tomorrow. |

I don't think we'll see too much dwindling with the F2P model and hi sec carebearville. The hardcores will migrate to null and low, where they belong. |

I definitely think the playerbase will last for many more years than 2....
But if it doesn't, and all the doom and gloom naysayers are right.... this game will still be amazing and fun to play.

Hopefully, as long as CCP keeps supporting the game, the playerbase will not dwindle to very low numbers. Hopefully, as some leave...others will catch on. Plus, as long as EVEonline grows, DUST should as well. Especially when DUST is fully integrated into EVE or if DUST has its own pesistent and self-sustaining world |

If the playerbase lasts 2 years than they'll hang out even more. I think the playerbase will be defined after 6-9 months post release |

I believe that sooner or later it will be PC as well and this will ensure its survival, especially once the PS4 comes out and the PS3 is becoming antiquated (not that its crappy RAM isn't already). |
