Since this build, I'm trying out being an LAV driver, I've been looking at the logistics LAVs. In case you didn't know, the description says they're capable of simultaneously repairing the armor of 3 or 4 dropsuits at once.
Why would I want to do that with an LAV? I could see doing something like that with an HAV, but LAVs tend to get destroyed extremely quickly if you aren't going at top speed- and I doubt infantry can keep up with it.
This leaves a problem-
- If you just plan on supporting infantry by driving near them, giving cover fire, and repairing, any AV weaponry will take you out in no time.
- If you want to drive around like a traditional LAV, you may as well use a non-logistics one (especially when they're labeled as STD)
The only use I can think of for them would be hit and run tactics- drive up somewhere, have everyone but the gunner jump out, do what you stopped to do, jump back in, drive away to a hiding place, repair armor, repeat.
And this still doesn't make it worth the SP and ISK put into it (at least until we can fight in the whole district instead of just sections)
Does anyone know a good way to use these? |

First off the inbuild repair/shield booster (depends what you want to use) can lock on multiple infantry units. And no vehicles installations are not included. Another thing is the turret does only 50% damage but you get more HP on armor/shields and inbuild damage resistance. With some extra modules on it you can make it into a fast driving tank. Well its deffo the best type of transport up to date on Dust. And you can take a couple of forgegun hits now tell me what other LAV is aible to do that? To give you a clue what the vehicles are specific here we go:
Charybdis, caldari shield based LAV -pro: -shields are more resistant against AV grenades, swarms and probably AV mines (last 1 not tested yet) -shields can recharge over time
cons: - 2-3 forgegun hits and your money goes up into flames -flux grenades damage the shield badly - the inbuild shield booster probs still wont give you any points
overall: better choice if you want to have a good transport for your squad and swarms/Av grenades are more common then forgeguns and flux grenades so the vehicle probably will last longer on the battlefield
Limbus, gallante armor based LAV pro: - armor is more resistant towards forgeguns and flux grenades - when your vehicle is on fire you can help yourself out with a armor repair module/tool - the inbuild armor repair module can repair dropsuits damn fast a proto repair tool is a joke compared to it making it the best friend of a heavy.
cons: -swarms can damage you very badly aswell as av grenades -armor cant repair itself
overall: this thing should only be used by a professional driver cause swarms and av grenades are allways on the battlefield making it harder to survive. but its a excellent infantry support vehicle when you want to repair dropsuit armor. Just to give you a hint: 1 heavy with a scrambler pistol with Logistic LAV support>5 guys with assault rifles. |

Gallente's LAV is the one that works best for me. I have about 2100 armor points on it. I can't wait to see the Minmatar LAV though. |

I've been in the beta since it started, and I still have yet to see a logistics LAV in the wild actually repping anything. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but it says volumes to me about how willing mercs are to use them. |

The only people who will put that much into something, from what I've seen, are tank drivers. |
