The diminishing returns system isn't that bad of an idea, but as it stands, it screws over the weekend warriors.... I don't know what the reset timer is supposed to be, but Here's my idea on the system....
Set diminishing returns to a static 12 hour period(8am-8pm), every hour of playtime within the 12 hour period nets a 5% penalty to SP gains, for a total of a 55% penalty upon completion of the 11th hour.. I don't think this is too harsh of a penalty on the people that play all the time...
My next thought is for the players that can't play everyday, or only play on the weekends, while the passive SP helps to some extent, it's not enough to allow them to even remotely keep up with players that play often... My Idea is to give players a set amount of SP for every FULL 24 hour period they don't log in... something like 20-40k SP, assume they can only play friday/saturday/sunday, that's 4 24 hour periods they'll get the 'Offline Bonus' for a total of 80-160k SP.. This isn't enough to allow them to keep up completely, but is enough to let them upgrade a few low level skills at the end of the week....
I feel this system would have a good chance of making everyone happy, but please note the penalty % and Offline Bonus amounts are open to be adjusted as needed, I don't know how well these numbers would fit in with the average/extreme SP Gains, and the Static periods are also open to change, but I believe it needs to be a global static period, be it four 6 hours, three 8's, or two 12's, and not a personalized 8 hour timer for each person... Thoughts, Comments, Criticism? No flaming please, it's just an Idea
P.S. I tried posting this on another thread, but for some reason the Post button wasn't working, so i decided to make a new thread instead of clicking furiously in hopes of a successful post.. |

No offense but I dont want diminishing returns. Right now it gives me the ISK to fund my shenanigans. Both SP and ISK having diminishing returns is just bad. Why play a game when you loose more than you invest?

The diminishing returns is horrible for those who don't play 24/7. I am Ok with a weekly cap, but at least let me earn my SP as fast as I did in the previous build. As it is now, in a good night I might get a total sum of 10k SP. Heck, I think I earn more by not even playing.
ISK is also terrible in this build too, I have to spend most of my time playing using starter kits just so I can afford a tiny handful of 60k suits to use on super rare occasions. I can't count how many times I have bankrupted myself just buying a few mediocre suits. How people are going to be able to afford the high end ~700k suit loadouts is beyond me, unless they inherit a couple billion from their EVE account.
However, the way it is now makes some sense, cause with low SP payouts upgrading skills and getting better loadouts takes much longer, which is probably Ok seeing as the ISK payouts are so pathetic. Even if I had the SP to upgrade I really couldn't utilize it because I wouldn't be able to afford the more expensive loadout.
In short, SP cap is Ok, but we should be able to get the same SP per match we did in the previous build. Also ISK payouts need to increase dramatically. Not much sense upgrading anything if we can't afford to use it, that to me is a gamekiller. Spending most of my matches using starter kits is not my idea of fun.

This is part of why I haven't been playing too much. The SP doesn't bother me, I just hate never having enough ISK to try anything cool more than once or twice. |
