A piece of equipment that you set up on a tripod on open ground. It puts out an aura like other equipment so it's not impossible to spot (this doesn't serve functionality, but it does serve balance). It detects the concussion from high powered rifles and triangulates their position. It sends that information to your MCC which then finds and tags them on your radar for 15 seconds.
It takes 5 seconds for the MCC to find and tag the sniper, so if they move far enough immediately after shooting they won't be found and tagged. Since it's on a tripod it can be spotted and shot down from a distance, making it harder to abuse. Whoever shoots it down get's tagged for 5 seconds. Every sniper killed who is tagged nets the person who set up the triangulator a kill assist.
Make it have a high CPU/PG usage rating and make it require several logistics skills to be accessible to prevent over accessibility.
Since we have similar technology today, I felt this isn't too far fetched of an idea.
Don't hate, it's just an idea that I thought would be helpful for spotting snipers. Particularly those who try to hide in the red zone. This would work well as a countermeasure to snipers who camp a lot and snipers with lots of dampening modules. If you don't like my idea just say so, no need for flaming. |

i like but I would want it to be as spot-able for a sniper as I DU or nanohive is for them (not easily view-able...) |

Sorry but pointless....
They're so easy to spot as it is, I've killed about 8 snipers in the last 2 games using assault. all you have to do is look around and you will see them.
and with the amount of other weapons being fired closer to the location you wouldn't get an accurate reading anyway and all it would do is light up everyone on the map.

that's not to say i don't see the merit in your idea. as far as ideas go it's a pretty good one,
but as i said, they really aren't very hidden if you just take a second or two to look around. |

another person who is wanting to pinpoint snipers without having to work to increase their skills in scan precision and range and waste a high slot to increase it further.
i called it as soon as snipers finished their profile lowering skills people would start to complain.
this will only increase when they fix the visuals so people actually are covered by the terrain filters. |

No thanks, Snipers have a hard enough job as it is (I'm Assault), I kill plenty of them and the ones that do get me? They don't live for long. |

Looking toward the setting sun makes it tough to see everything, including dropships, infantry on the ground, etc. It's a tactical advantage to have your opponent looking toward the sun. Just because on some maps when you sometimes are facing the wrong direction and the sun happens to be low, we should have triangulation to find snipers? I think that's a bit much. When I run my logi, I can spot them easily and call them out. I've never had a problem looking into the sun, and because it happens 1% of the time doesn't mean there should be a special device to combat it.
I do like the general idea of more gadgets and different ways to play and counter each other, but I'm sorry, I don't like this idea at all. But keep 'em coming. Always good to hear more ideas. |

As I expect snipers to be far harder to spot (a ok thing) it makes sense to have this kind of non-dramatic countermeasure. But, I'd say PG/CPU should be pretty low.
I'm gonna give this a +1. |
