Before a "1x" skill would cost around 10k for level 1, "2x" would cost about 20k, etc. Now a "1x" skill takes only about 6k, and "2x" costs 12k.
So of course they would lower the skill gain for matches
However, they did not lower the sp gain over time which corresponds to exactly 1k every hour. This means that the skill gain over time is more valuable to players who don't get online as much.
As of right now I have earned about 500k sp for a total of 1 million sp, and have played DUST for probably 12 hours this week Let's assume part of that earning was from the 144k sp from 6 days of 24 hour sp gain (1k/hour) So 350k sp in 12 hours is about 30k every hour. At an average of 4 matches in an hour that's only about 50 matches at 7k a match.
According to the "drop off point" at around 1.5 mil, I've earned half of the maximum at probably a very small fraction of the playtime. To me, this is very balanced, especially when 30% of my sp income is from passive sp gain. |

What i find funny is the rate at witch you can gain SP in dust compared to EVE. You have a high starting passive rate then you get to add combat extras to it. Seems like a good player could out level a 2 year old EVE pilot in short order. |

Has it been confirmed that passive skill gain stops when the cap is reached? They may be separate entities.
Also, 4 matches in an hour? What game are you playing? |

The game timer for ambush matches is 15 minutes. Usually clones run out before then around 5 minutes left, so 10 minutes for a match plus all the other stuff (waiting, end of match sequence, etc) is about 15 minutes
Sometimes I start in the middle of a match.
Average of 4 matches an hour. Sometimes 5, sometimes only 2 or 3 because of restocking. |

Can someone clarify for me what happens if I activate Passive SP gain? Does it affect my SP I get when I am actively playing? |

When you activate passive SP gain on a character, you will start to gain passive SP on that character Seriously, if you don't activate passive SP on any of your chars, you miss out on 1000 SP every hour, every day, all the time. So do it, it wont affect your active SP gain in any way. |

Okay, So after reading this I activated my passive SP. Can anyone explain to me why I NEED to activate it. Wouldn't this be something everyone would want anyway? |

I suppose that If your create a new character on a clear account, it will be activated by default. You can activate it only on one character per account, so that's why you need to manually do so. |

If I'm not wrong you can only have Passive SP active on one of your characters, it's not automatically getting enabled on the new one, but stays on the previously selected one... And probably that's why you need to enable it once manually. |

i personally think passive sp gain should be the bulk of the sp u get, i think the game should be more based on team performance than personal performance, i.e. isk reward should be based on if your team wins you get a multiplyer to how much isk you get and if you lose you only get a fraction of it, and sp gain would be majority based on passive that way people will focus more on winning than they would personal score |

I agree, SP should be 80% time based, 20% "earned".
And no, passive SP should not be affected by any cap, nor do I think it does right now. |

So passive SP gain doesn't count in weekly SP cap ? Or it does but It isn't effected by diminishing return ? |
