So to all my fellow Dust bunnies and EVE pilots, greetings and salutations from the Throne Worlds of the Amarrian Empire. Now, if you have played EVE you know of something pretty much useless called Passengers. Passengers are simply passengers that do nothing that you buy off the market and put in your ship for the lolz. But perhaps they could be useful eh?
My idea is that in the future Dust people could actually buy and contract Computer AI ( Marines, Scientists, Logistics, Snipers, Heavy's, Vehicular AI ) to help them on the battlefield or on Planetary Instillations. Yes I know the game is Player based just like EVE. Keep in mind though, that this could be a very useful thing. For example, If you buy let's say 20 marines, armed with Caldari assault rifles ( soonTM I hope ) along with you and 20 other players; it could give you a great advantage over lets say 10 players with no AI. Scientists could be bought to simply walk around Planetary Instillations and speed up the process of which you acquire goods. Logistics could be armed with Shotguns, and go around the battlefield repairing units and vehicles. Obviously you won't be able to talk to these AI like players, but they will be there. You could open up a tactical overlay and give them orders ( stay put, attack this, follow me, repair that, kill him ect. ). I'd even say let players open up their newly bought AI mercenary's and allow us to change their fittings around, but using our own money and assets to do so. All those passengers in EVE ( yes the exotic dancers ;D ) could finally have their use among the universe. Imagine dropping down 100 marine AI onto a battlefield of just 36 players. If each team done this, the battle would be a full out war. Vehicles everywhere, bullets tearing through the sky. The reason I would want this, and request this, is because getting into BIG battles with players isn't common in EVE nor will it be a common thing in Dust... This idea could easily let players see the glory's of large scale war commonly. Please allow this to happen CCP. Obviously there would be restrictions on the pertaining subject, but there is MUCH more you could go with this; almost limitless possibilities. Anyways, see you on the battlefield Dust bunnies, and see you in the heavens my fellow EVE players. CCP, you are doing a good job. |

i like your thinking, it is a a great idea.
i do have a couple of things to say though.
1) if you dont think that big battles with players happens a lot in EVE...you are not getting involved in the ways of New Eden and its wars properly
and 2)....there will be big wars in Dust...eventually. more and more people will be let in, the maps will increase in size...more people willbe let in, itll be mayhem when its launched aswell. I beta test planetside 2 aswell, and for a while i was thinking "compared to planetside 1....this is kinda empty." then they released the new patch, to stress test. currently they only have 2 servers open, one in the EU, and one in the US. the reason for this is to make sure that the servers can handle 2000 players per continent and not crash. so far so good....and MAN IS IT MAYHEM!!!!
