Seriously, is it just me or what? I can see why people prefer specific assault rifles: they shoot like ******* lasers. Aim down the sights and shoot, and you see a perfect line flying to your target, each shot hits behind the other. Hell, anyone with an assault rifle can outsnipe a sniper, which is incredibly silly. I think Assault Rifles need recoil.
Is it just me? |

I support recoil proportional to the duration of sustained automatic fire. Actual accuracy should remain the same, especially while hipfiring. I love the ability to hipfire effectively in shooters, and most shooters don't allow it these days. |

One of the reason I like Killzone.
I actually seldom aim down the sights, since I usually run with an SMG as my main anyways. But I was playing in that one new map, and I saw this one guy shooting people heading to cannon C, shooting them with his assault rifle from the rooftop of a building. I was playing as a Recon, and at the distance I was he was nailing me with gunfire pretty accurately, to the point where it was disrupting my aim. It was so damn annoying. |

Well hit detection was fixed so that helps it and since you can't strafe that helps them even more. More or less with hit detection fixed and strafing nerfed, anyone that is looking at someone else on the other team is going to get pew'd pew'd. |

I can actually still successfully strafe and kick some ass as a Recon, I don't find myself affected by the nerf. It DOES **** me up when I'm sniping, which is my secondary role, but it has nothing to do with strafe and everything to do with the insane accuracy of the assault rifle. In fact, when I'm using my SMG, the only reason others kill me is 'cause they use that one Assault Rifle that hits like a ******* mule. The GEK Assault Rifle, I think. That, and the Toxin SMG is goddamn broken, as well. |

I can still kick ass by swaying left and right and hip firing but strafing did take a huge nerf. When you ADS, it becomes harder to strafe while in a gun fight with 2 or more guys. |

The extremely limited range on the AR makes your claim that they can out-snipe a sniper silly. Unless you consider shooting somebody 20 ft away "sniping".
As for the accuracy, yes it is a laser-gun. But until the aiming gets fixed, adding bullet spread would be devastating.
And there is recoil already, it's minor but it doesn't become significant until somebody shoots you while you are aiming on a player.

Not what I think, but what I have experienced. Some guy could be standing completely still and not that far away at all, I fire directly at him... nothing. I have to keep moving closer and closer to make hits count, it is pretty limited from what I have seen so far.
Shame we can't setup private matches yet, as I would like to take some pictures of the maximum operable distance for the AR against a static player. Cause, at least for me, the range is really limited.

There's a skill for that, I believe.
Also, throwing my vote in for ARs being a tad on the strong side. I refuse to use them unless I need some ISK... it makes me feel dirty to wield one. |

The current recoil with ar op lv1 is about what lv5 should be. What is point of reducing recoil that is not noticeable. The smg has recoil, but should have more with its higher fire rate. Smg is also a projectile weapon, ar shoots plasma, I would expect projectile to have more recoil. |

Part of the problem is the Tactical rifle. It isn't single fire anymore, and acts like a super accurate auto rifle.
The rest of the problem is the bloody strafe nerf that feels like a rod up the spine of the merc. |

I think it's very similar to how things work in EvE. If you put points into something (SP) then you get CONSIDERABLY better at it.
If you go weapons 5, AR 5, Sharpshooter 5, then you get a very very nice Assault Rifle.
This is probably explained just as well by looking at posts recently that are the direct opposite of what you are saying; Range is appalling, to much kick etc etc.
Interestingly, though, I have come to loath the 'Duvalle' Rifles, which seem to take these benefits to the extreme. That said, I'd imagine that their users have skills in all the right places.

The only thing that has the range to counter that is the sniper rifle, and it takes too long to line up an accurate shot when you are under attack. The AR currently trumps everything else, which is a bad thing for game balance (remember, this is a game, not the real world...it doesn't matter how realistic it is, if the game is no fun for anyone who doesn't wield an AR) |

AR's have been made more accurate. If it is too much, I don't know. But the named (AUR) versions seem to be far and above the rest of the weapons with regards to accuracy. |

you guys are trying to kill the game imo we dont need a boost in recol. they just made us run/straf slower which makes us easier to shoot at. all they need to do is increase the strafing by a small margin. the guns are fine, but you guys are asking to put recol on them when the maps will get more then 3 times the size they are now. huge maps + high recol on weapons = horrible game imo |

Sure they should be able to kill, but currently they are where tanks were last build before they got fixed. They have high range, high RoF, high damage, high accuracy, nearly no recoil. The single only thing that can kill an AR from the front is a Sniper outside the ARs range. Even from behind it is very difficult. I can run up to an AR, shoot him with my Shotgun at point blank range to take away his shield and nearly all his armor, just for him to turn around and kill me before I get a second shot.
Every weapon, suit or vehicle in the game has to be balanced. The AR currently is not. Why do you think you see that many ARs? Because they are the most fun, since you have an edge against just about everything. |

They removed the tiny bit of recoil AR's had last build. I've explained it all elsewhere. Too much recoil would be bad. But E3/Precursor levels were ok-good for arena mechanics. I don't get satisfaction currently.
I don't see any need for bigger maps either. Not without LOTS more players. |

Yea i agree last build was awesome but as you can see when people ask for changes it seems CCP overdo it. They just need to fix a few things like the scout hit box. I have mix feelings about having bigger maps also because i like to have some sense of control. But i know there needs to be a change in FPS gaming on ps3 and im all for that, as long as i can still ****. they did say that they have tested 32v32 before, its only a matter of time before we test it out

When we have racial versions of suits with bonuses, the amarr assault will have bonus to LR, the gallente and caldari suits to AR. Amarr will start with lr op, gallente with ar op. They are the same role, just different races approach to same role. The AR does need some more recoil though. The minmatar I predict will get a light machine gun or futuristic browning automatic rifle. |

Assault Rifle operation reduces recoil and dispersion 5% per level, there is no dispersion or recoil with lv1. So the people that put points in ar get something from their bonus. Up recoil so current lv1 amount is at lv4 or 5. People that spec AR would see no change, but people with ar op lv1 would see some recoil.
Most have no reason to put sp in ar, since passive bonus does nearly nothing and they can't afford adv/proto ar. Reason I am using mostly ar and putting sp in laser rifle. Standard laser gets better with more sp, standard ar is same with more sp.
While they are changing things, why not put GA in name of rifles, and make duplicates With CA in name with the red dot sight people say was in old build. |
