And now, for a thread that doesn't consist of raging about how bad the game is, or boosting or whatever.
I know more FPS types don't really care too much about Lore, but EVE has so much of it that we won't be able to escape it anyway.
So...Here is a thread to talk about EVE Lore/Rp-ish geek stuff, and how it applies/affects Dust.
so starting off, this has been on my mind for a while now:
Who is who, in the Dust trailer? The one that they added to the beginning of Dust.
I know(think?) that the lady, is the Amarr Queen. But I don't know who anyone else in the trailer is.

The guy at the end who says "immortal" is Mordu. In lore he is actually running the trials we are participating in an attempt to make sure all of the connections to Sleepers (aka in game bugs) have been removed. |

OK so that trailer was basically the Templar One book condenced into 2 minutes. If you haven't read it yet I suggest you check it out. The first and only video game book of I've read and I gotta say its pretty good... except for the fact it doesn't really have an ending. Mack and Jonas were definitely my favorite characters in the book. But I'm all for delving into the lore of eve.

For EVE subscribers, to participate for the beta, you had to sign up for 'Modu's Private Trials', a few of us were in the Mordus Legion corp too a while back
EVE has also had plenty of in game events which have been added to the lore as well, since the lore is ever evolving each year. It's pretty cool stuff.

The Bald Guy is Mordu though much less whimsical half of him. The other half is of Mordu is a rather nice guy to mee.t.
What I find odd though is that the ship shown raiding the sleeper station was a concord one and not amarrian like it was in the book. Then again this could be Modru's own followup expedition to get sleeper free tech. |

Go read Templar One. It's actually a pretty decent book and will answer your questions better than anything else.
Also. here's a bunch of short stories about EVE (much of which is New Eden as a whole). There are a few other stories on the main DUST site, too. |

Yes and we're not the only technology to be comming out of the raiding of sleeper tech.
Micro Jump Drives (though Sansha incursions have been pushing that one more) Tech 3 Cruisers with fullerides. Adaptive Armor Hardeners Aclinarity Shield boosters (ammo feed shield repair units instead of power plant feed) Drone Control Units Microinzation of
Either way wormholes appearing in new eden has opened a can of worms so to say, technologies.
Also there is back stories already

Stranded (follows the type of stories the typical merc they get for the immortal soldier program)
Eve Online Story '514' (this probably explains the character wipes)
There are stories predating this concerning the sleepers though but they're mostly eve online side. |

Old human civ that is sleeping in Matrix type pods. Guarded by drones in wormhole space. Rogue drones are different, some people get two types confused.
The Empyrian Age and The Burning Life were also good, I still have to pick up Templar One myself. |

The Sleeper (people) where one of the first races to go though the wormhole along with the Terrans, Tak-mal, Yu yang and Talocan others.
Sleepers where known for thier hyper-reality simulations, meta-presence tech, and few other intersting tidbits. You can say they where the first to acheive digital souls.
Sleepers are ancestors of the enigmatic Jovains as well.
Its been understood that sleepers where the most technologically inferior of the ancients and where more of a slave cast to the Terrans. Thus thier miltiary tech was milita-ish at best. Even then thier drones without shields can almost kick an Emperyains rear end without support.
This of course is mostly specualtion and best guessing and we bits of infromation we managed to pull out of wormhole space exploration, There is still an expedition to find out what the hell happended to all the sleepers but form the looks of it some sort of bioweapon research gone horribly wrong.
And to think this expansion we're talking about is 2 years old... and the story is still not fully explored yet. |

That's nice and all but 75% of what you're posting is going to go over the heads of most people reading this thread. Why tell us who are the Jovian's ancestors when we don't know who the Jovians are to begin with? Why call them enigmatic but not explain why or how? So Sleepers sleep in pods and are guarded by drones, why?
What wormholes? To where? What the hell is meta-presence tech? What do they use drones for other then guarding the Sleepers? Do drones do battle? Can you/we control them? Are digital souls relevant to the game or are you just using superfluous language?
It's nice of you EVE players to share lore but need you explain the equation only starting at the equals sign? I think that will better serve to confuse us "console kiddies" then help. Could you at least point us to a timeline or something where we can start? A Google search provides so much information it's overwhelming and most of it will never pertain to us stuck on the "ground" so it's really hard to know what to process. To be honest your answers almost seem like you're lording the information over us. |

So lets talk about this:
What are we?
yeah, I know, we're mercs and we're clones. But are we nameless and faceless in the grand scheme?
Are we just numbers to be thrown at each other for the Capsuleer's benefits? Yeah, thats how Capsuleers will see us, but is that really all that we are?
Do we have personalities, social lives outside of combat, etc.? or are we just mindless automatons bred for battle and nothing else? Do we care about our Nations, and the causes they fight for? Do they battles we fight affect us at all, other than constant cloning?
(understood, that right now, we are test subjects, but I am referring to the larger game)
I think these things are things that we as a community can establish early, and we do a good enough job of it, then CCP may see fit to not contradict it with official lore, and maybe just go with it.
