I believe I read on another thread that you can tag yourself with the "defend" order as squad leader, was just wondering if that was true and how it is done? With the map perhaps? Will it earn you more war points or just other squad members? I frequently find myself as squad leader with no actual squad members and thought it might be useful here and there. Any help's appreciated. party on. |

Well you can give orders by pushing down button(directionnal cross), it will load the battle map, then select a target (vehicle/teammates/yourself/installations) while maintaining cross button(X), then choose your order(defend is the recommended one and preferably put on your vehicle or squad member).
There is another way to give order, you need to push R2 then R3 (maintain them) then choose your order with the right stick and valid with R1. |

I'm familiar with the R2/R3 method, just never issued orders with the map open before. I'll give it a go. Thanks for the reply. |

use the map, hold down X 'targeting' yourself, then use the right(?) toggle to select Defend.
squad members near you will earn more WP for actions near to you, and their actions near your defend order , in turn award you with more Command points. |

Well.. The reason you are able to Guard individuals -- Is probably for... HMMM
I think it may be because... Sometimes ONE person could be... HACKING something.
Just maybe... I don't know for sure. But in the game, EVERYONE wants to just run and capture everything first... No one wants none of the Assist points. I've tried a few games showin the concept of watchin their back while they do it. Its just, never catches on.
The map is where you issue commands though. |

If you select defend on yourself you do not get any extra points for your deeds. I will usually put it on any other green dot if I'm in a random game of ambush. Cause you get points for their kills hacking drop links, and nanohives. |

Points gain from having a good squad leader and actually running with the squad are appreciably greater then lone wolfing.
The map allows for 2 commands, Rally and Defend.
For greater depth in command, try this when you are a squad leader:
- hold down R2, bringing up the weapon wheel.
- Click R3, changing the weapon wheel to the command wheel.
- use the analog sticks (righthand one, but may be wrong) to select an order, such as Capture for hackable points, or Attack/Destroy for killable targets.
- aim your target reticule over the target of your order, and click trigger/R1 whilst it is highlighted in a "box".

yeah use the map as people stated, but if you are in a squad on your own its pointless, as you only get points for others peoples actions |

Thanks, that answers my question quite nicely. The scenario is possible yet pointless. I'll just make more of an effort to join another group when the game decides to make me a squad leader of nobody. Most of the games I join are already in progress, so I either forget or can't be bothered to find/join another squad. It is not my desire to lone wolf, just don't have any dust contacts as of yet and so rely solely on the game's default squad choice for me most of the time. |

This is wrong. You get no points from an order you have given regardless of who it is on. You also get no bonus if your in a vehicle with the squad commander. You can get bonuses if you are a normal squad member and get hit with a defend order. The point of dropping a defend on your self is to get your pubies from random matches to cluster around you and move as a group. Help your squad mates get bonuses and reap the commission rewards. |

As squad leader a defend order on yourself does work to get your squad more points if they are killing from near you. As they get bonus points you get squad command points. Instead of 50 per kill they will get 125 and you will get 75.. makes a hugs difference. |
