One thing I don't like about the strafe reduction is the reduced ability to get in and out of cover, as well as to avoid LAVs coming at you. For these things, you don't need a consistently high strafe speed so much as you need to move a short distance in a hurry.
So here's my suggestion: When you push your movement stick to the side and tap the sprint button you do a quick side-hop that will move you about a couple meters. This gets balanced by not being able to fire your weapon while doing it, or for about a half-second after (as you get your bearings and level your gun again). And of course it uses some stamina.
Alternatively, this could be a dive action, but it would get annoying to dive every time you needed to get behind cover. Maybe if you hit the jump button at the same time, it makes you do a dive. This would give you the option of quick-strafing behind cover in a gunfight versus diving to get a little extra distance when you're dodging a vehicle.
Just an idea, please provide your thoughts. |

Reducing strafe has made bunny hops legit. Because I jump faster than I strafe. Bunny hop should be terrible. Currently it's the 2nd best way to avoid being shot. #1 being cover.
Give me my strafe speed back. |

I'd be down with that, we really do need something.

We don't need excessive strafing I was comfortable with it this build. However I would like combat movements such as sliding diving and rolling, but not for dodging bullets but for repositioning yourself. Give them limits and rules to use so they cant be used repeatedly and abused would be good. |

Yes, the idea with this suggestion is that you wouldn't be able to use it in an open firefight because you wouldn't be able to shoot while strafing, and you'd have an instant of stillness afterward where you're unable to shoot as well. So it would be death to do it while someone has a gun trained on you. But if you're stepping behind cover or jumping out of the way of a vehicle, it would make sense. |
