So my game was barely playable yesterday, I had lag problems, framerate problems, textures wouldn't load in, everything would take a ton of time to load etc. I have a fairly decent wired internet connection so I figured it wasn't that, but after following the instructions in the below links, my game is now super smooth and looks and plays like a polished shooter.
I'm not saying it will work for you, but seriously try it if you have the above problems, the difference was phenomenal.
This and this.

A New solid state HDD made everything run nice and smooth for me, i had the old fat boy from release, installed it half way through precursor and it was noticeably smoother and now on codex, no issues |

A solid state on the PS3 huh? Never crossed my mind. Then again, CCP themselves have mentioned how their game loads assets from the HDD in a "smart" way in order to counterbalance the low RAM.
So, how many gigs was the HDD and how much did it cost? |

There was this at best buy for 149 bucks for 500gig SSD. I was thinking buying it, but I just figured that CCP will fix the latency. I haven't played it much since Codex went live, but I noticed some areas in a game are a lot smoother. |

I have a second gen fat PS3, no solid state HDD although it has crossed my mind now they're "cheaper".
I was just blown away by how much of a difference there was by just simply forwarding my ports and setting up my router correctly with the PS3. I figure more people need to try it since I was experiencing a lot of the symptoms people are complaining about now. |

a solid state brings almost zero performance advantage.
1. the ps3 OS is not made to support SSD. all that will happen is that you gain a marginal performance boost at the beginng but the OS will tear the SSD out and in the end you will have a slower loading times then before. 2. the motherboard is not able to utilize the extra speed anyway. |
